Relationships of organizational behavior/mission congruence with burnout, secondary traumatic stress, and compassion satisfaction among nurses

•This study provides evidence to the importance of organizational behavior to nurse well-being.•Hospital mission/behavior congruence predicted less burnout and secondary traumatic stress and more compassion satisfaction.•In this study, organization (i.e., systems) factors are significant to better nurse well-being than the influence of manager leadership style.
