Metal matrix composites are known to exhibit improved mechanical properties due to the reinforcing particles, their shape, distribution, and interaction with the matrix. This study investigates the role of in situ formed Al3Zr, Al3Ti, and a combination of (Al3Zr + Al3Ti) particles on the microstructure, crystallographic orientation relationship, and nucleation behavior of primary Al grains in Al-5 wt.
