摘要
Origami-based structures utilize the ancient art of origami to solve various engineering problems, particularly in energy absorption applications. This paper presented a newly de-signed truncated origami structure based on the Miura-ori pattern. As the truncated ratio e decreased, the truncated structure gradually transformed from a Miura-ori structure to a condensed solid. The behavior of truncated origami structures under quasi-static compressive loading in the in-plane direction was analyzed through numerical simulations. The experimental results confirmed the validity of the simulation models. The truncated origami structure with varying e was investigated, and the structure with e = 0.6 exhibited the best overall energy absorption performance. The truncated origami structure was compared to honeycomb structures with the same relative density, and it performed better in specific energy absorption (SEA) in two in-plane directions.
