摘要
Invasive fungal infections (IFIs) are an increasing cause of morbidity and mortality, particularly due to the growing number of immunocompromised patients worldwide.1 Definitive and timely diagnosis can be challenging. Dermatologists frequently evaluate high-risk neutropenic or posttransplant patients hospitalized with skin lesions and fevers who are especially at risk of IFIs. Currently, diagnosis is limited to punch biopsies for histology and tissue culture in patients with suspected IFIs.1 The sensitivity of these studies is low, with concordance of only ∼10%.
