A Fault Modeling Method for the Asynchronous Motor Based on the Stator Current

As the heart of the train traction system, the traction asynchronous motor is deeply related to the safety and reliability of trains. However, due to the long-term operation in the harsh environment, the motor is prone to malfunction and lead to system performance degradation. Therefore, this paper proposes a fault modeling method for the traction asynchronous motor based on stator current, where the stator inter-turn short circuit fault and broken rotor bar fault are taken into consideration. Firstly, the fault mechanism of the motor stator inter-turn short circuit fault and rotor broken bar fault are analyzed, and the fault characteristic of the stator current signals are obtained. Then the mathematical models of stator and rotor faults are constructed according to the equivalent physical models of stator inter-turn short circuit fault and rotor broken bar fault. Finally, the fault models are simulated to validate the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed method.
