Tracking changes in opioid prescriptions dispensed following the enactment of a prescription drug monitoring program use mandate.

Using a novel CPA approach, the findings showed an inflection in the trend in opioid prescriptions dispensed post-PDMP use mandate implementation, implying that most of the avoidable prescribing likely was curtailed. The results suggest that the patient information presumably accessed from the WI PDMP interface was useful in helping prescribers to make an informed clinical decision about opioid prescribing.
