A Brief Review on Shorting Vias Techniques for Gain Enhancement in Microstrip Patch Antenna

摘要
In the context of modern wireless communication, fifth generation (5G) technology has been growing rapidly and become challenging in the limited space which demands compact, robust and high gain antenna. Numerous studies have been carried out to boost the gain of microstrip antennas because they naturally have lower gains. 5G technology requires a high gain antenna in order to have better directivity, more concentrated energy and narrow radiation pattern which can increase channel capacity. Various techniques have been proposed by the researcher such as adding parasitic element, shorting vias, array antenna and defected ground structure (DGS). In this paper, a brief review of feeding techniques and shorting vias technique for gain enhancement has been investigated and summarized.
