A proposed alternative station layout (the “Vogel” layout) for the low-frequency 256 element Square Kilometre Array (SKA) is reviewed, and new embedded element pattern results are presented and discussed. It is noted that the Vogel configuration ameliorates previously noted issues with an earlier station layout, but that new antenna pattern issues are encountered at at a higher frequency band.
