摘要
In patients with severe aortic stenosis undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), the prediction of mortality risk is crucial to avoid futile procedures and optimize clinical decision making, preoperative interventions, and follow-up. The knowledge of body composition, within nutritional status assessment, is a key tool in evaluating patient frailty. Indeed, several studies have shown the independent prognostic role of low muscle mass in patients who treated with TAVR. 1 Heidari B Al-Hijji MA Moynagh MR Takahashi N Welle G Eleid M Singh M Gulati R Rihal CS Lerman A. Computed tomography (CT), an examination routinely performed in TAVR candidates for evaluating aortic root anatomy and access route, represents the gold standard to measure body composition compartments through the analysis of CT scans at the third lumbar vertebra level using a dedicated software. 2 Mok M Allende R Leipsic J Altisent OA Del Trigo M Campelo-Parada F DeLarochellière R Dumont E Doyle D Côté M Freeman M Webb J Rodés-Cabau J.
