Demo: High-speed Molecular Communication Testbed with Liquid Pipeline Channel.

In this paper, we present an experimental molecular communication (MC) testbed demo with a liquid pipeline channel that mimics the blood vessel. Both acid and base solutions were adopted as the information carriers to overcome the severe inter-symbol interference of the MC signals, improving the signal detection performance. A wireless communication module is further added in this testbed, acting as an interface between the input information source and the MC transmitter. Then, the messages are encoded via the activation of acid-base solutions, which pass through the pipeline channel to the destination. At the receiving end, a pH sensor is equipped to sense acid-base information and convert it into voltage values for detection. The ideology of both fixed threshold and slope detection algorithms is combined for symbol detection. Note that the achievable transmission rate of our testbed is 5 bits per second, which is 1.25 times higher than its predecessor.
