Mitral valve replacement in patient with previous Amulet Amplatzer left atrial appendage closure device implantation

We present the case of a patient in atrial fibrillation with a with previous Amulet Amplatzer left atrial appendage closure device implantation, scheduled for a mitral valve replacement. Prior CT angiography demonstrates the patency of the device. Before the intervention, we ask the following questions: should the device always be removed, or only if patency is demonstrated? If it leaks, should we try to fix the patency with suture, or leave it alone and just focus on mitral valve replacement? (c) 2022 Sociedad Espanola de Cirugia Cardiovascular y Endovascular.
