Label-free quantitative proteomics analysis of producer and non-producer Chinese Hamsters Ovary (CHO) cells under ER stress conditions

•Upon ER stress induction multiple KEGG pathways related to protein processing get enriched.•GANAB, UGGT1 and ATF6 show significant changes in producer and non-producer CHO cell lines.•Producer cells show a greater level of protein expression linked to protein targeting to ERAD.•Producer cell lines develop mechanisms for the restoration of homeostasis within the ER.•The complexity of the protein produced influences stress response mechanisms.
