Latent classes of prolonged grief and other indicators of mental health in bereaved adults: A systematic review

•Understanding heterogeneity in responses to loss is crucial for tailored treatment.•21 latent class analyses (LCAs) on prolonged grief and other mental health indicators were reviewed.•Most studies found three classes that were distinct in symptom-profiles of mental health after loss.•Most often a resilient, high symptom, and prolonged grief class was found.•Quality of reporting on LCAs should be improved to increase comparability of studies.
