摘要
Solar production of chemical fuels through photoelectrochemical reactions is an emerging and alternative approach to harvesting solar energy in a more green and sustainable way. Recently, organic/ inorganic metal halide perovskites (MHPs) have emerged as efficient materials that remarkably boost the performance of solar-driven PEC or EC devices. The MHPs made of earth-abundant and cost-effective materials exhibit excellent optoelectronic properties and high power-conversion efficiency for solar cell devices. Integrating MHP-based high-efficient solar energy harvesting devices with PEC systems provides an opportunity to design multifunctional self-powered devices for solar energy harvesting and fuel production. This review highlights the latest advancements in MHP-based photo(electro)catalysts/ photoelectrodes and MHP-integrated tandem devices for solar-driven water splitting. Insights into the properties, mechanisms, principles of device architecture, and performance of the MHP-based PEC devices are discussed. The advantages, challenges, drawbacks, and future perspectives related to the applications of MHP-based PEC materials/devices for solar-driven fuel production are also highlighted.(c) 2023 Elsevier Ltd.
