摘要
This paper presents a simple and effective design for widening the impedance bandwidth of a dual-polarized patch antenna. Firstly, a dual-polarized patch antenna fed by L-shaped probes is designed as the basic antenna, consisting of two layers of dielectric substrate. The reflection coefficients $\left(\left\vert\mathbf{S}_{11}\right\vert\right)$ of the basic antenna are less than -10 dB in the 9.4 - 10.6 GHz (12%) frequency band. And then, two comb-shaped metal patches are printed above the L-shaped probes to form the proposed antenna. Compared with the basic antenna, the impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is obviously widened, which covers the frequency band from 9.2 GHz to 11.9 GHz (25.6%). Meanwhile, the isolation and radiated performances of the antenna are only slightly affected. Thanks to the simple and effective method, the structural complexity of the antenna is hardly increased.
