Ultrafast Laser Induced Magnetization Switching in Amorphous TbCo and the Role of Element Specific Damping on HI-AOS

The optical control of magnetization has immense importance in high-speed low-power data storage applications. The present study focuses on the optical control of magnetization using linearly polarized ultrashort laser pulses. Here, we demonstrate the Helicity Independent All-Optical Switching(HI-AOS) in TbCo RE-TM Alloys with the help of the Atomistic Spin Dynamics Calculations. The Tb composition is varied from 18% to 36% and the possibility of HI-AOS is investigated by applying a wide range of input laser fluences. The results show that HI-AOS is possible for the range of composition 20% to 32%. Further, an element specific damping is applied to both Tb and Co sublattices to illustrate the role of the damping parameter on HI-AOS.
