Challenges and opportunities for ingestible electronics across timescales

Ingestible electronics stand to drastically improve the diagnosis and treatment of GI disorders. However, they are hindered by major challenges that uniquely relate to the time for which they are intended to operate within the GI tract (short, medium, or long timescales). These challenges and opportunities are discussed in detail within a safety and effectiveness framework to ensure direction toward clinical translation and impact.
