Lessons from the organizational change literature towards a transformational model for the construction industrialization

The intention to industrialize the Construction Sector has put enormous pressure on businesses. Construction companies' primary concern is to define a clear vision that will guide them on the path to a successful transformation. So far, Construction Industrialization (CI) research has provided only limited theoretical guidance, and practical applications frequently lack a systematic approach. Furthermore, while various approaches have been introduced in the literature, a thorough examination of these approaches reveals that none of them covers all aspects of CI comprehensively. Thus, the current review paper is among the first to give specific recommendations for lessons learned from the vast and solid field of Organizational Change and that can provide insights for a comprehensive CI transformation approach. Specifically, the emphasis is placed on the key organizational dimensions as a first effort to investigate how construction companies can implement a CI transformation. Six dimensions for effective CI implementation are presented from a total of twelve lessons learned. These lessons will provide a more in-depth knowledge of the nature of organizational transformation that must be addressed while implementing CI. Moreover, the current study suggests future research topics in the field of CI.
