Preliminary Data on the Middle Pleistocene Site of Lunel-Viel I (Hérault, France)

The archeo-paleontological site of Mas des Caves at Lunel-Viel (Herault, France), in Southeastern France, is a major site well-known for its diversified vertebrates remains dated to the second half of Middle Pleistocene. After a short presentation about the historical and studies context, we will present the renewal of research in this cavity, illustrated here by some preliminary data, concerning the general fossil distribution and new analysis and inputs about some taxa as the leporids, carnivores, rhinocerotids and cervids series. It highlights the ongoing work in this cavity and new analysis on the bone assemblages that aim to precise the taxonomy, paleoecological and biochronological contexts.
