摘要
The synthesis of new molecules and materials does not always involve creating bonds. In their Research Article (e202310354), Jorge Albalad, Inhar Imaz, Daniel Maspoch et al. show how bond scission becomes a powerful synthetic tool to design new molecules and materials when the cleavage step is quantitative, selective, and carefully controlled. As a proof-of-concept, unprecedented Rh(II)-based architectures (clusters, a crown, and a macrocycle) were obtained through the retrosynthetic disassembly of metal–organic polyhedra (MOPs) via Clip-off Chemistry.
