Research of a Novel Excitation Control Strategy for Improving Power System Transient Stability

The power system is developing in the direction of “double high”. In the process of system failure and evolution, the dynamic behavior of multiple components connected to the grid is intertwined and coupled, the safety and stability characteristics are more complex, and the prevention and control are more difficult. Transient stability control is a key technology for the system to recover from faults. The generator excitation system is an economical and effective mean to improve the transient stability of the system, and its role in the transient process is becoming more and more important. Firstly, five stages of transient process are introduced, and the theory of excitation control in different stages is analyzed theoretically; Secondly, according to the changes of parameters such as system electrical quantities in different stages, a novel excitation control strategy in the transient five-stage process is proposed, and the corresponding excitation control model is established; Finally, based on the RTDS platform, simulation research is carried out in the model of the single-machine infinite system and the Ximeng UHV AC-DC transmission and receiving end system respectively, which verifies the effectiveness of the transient stable excitation control strategy.
