Platform for the Analysis of the Density of Shopping Carts in a Supermarket

In retail, it is necessary to collect data on different aspects, including shopping trolleys, to improve various features e.g. efficiency, effectiveness, user experience, and security. The continuous advances in artificial intelligence allow the creation of systems that make tasks easier and cheaper. For this reason, this project presents the detection and tracking of shopping trolleys throughout the different areas of the supermarket without including a device in the trolleys. The YOLO v5 model is used to locate the trolleys through the cameras placed throughout the supermarket space. In addition, a web application has been developed for the visualization of the data as well as the customization of zones, warnings, and cameras.
