Introduction to non-IgE mediated food allergy

Non-IgE mediated food allergies encompass several conditions including food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES), food protein-induced allergic proctocolitis (FPIAP) and eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases (EGIDs). While there are key differences between these conditions, gastrointestinal symptoms are a predominant feature in all. In this introductory chapter, we will briefly describe the clinical presentation, pathophysiology, diagnosis and management of these conditions.
