Incision and Drainage in Local Anesthesia or Tonsillectomy for Treatment of Peritonsillar Abscess (silape) – a Prospective Randomized Clinical Trial

Background Treatment of peritonsillar abscess (PTA) primarily requires abscess drainage. Common methods in Germany are abscess drainage in local anesthesia (SiLA) and tonsillectomy in general anesthesia (TE). The superiority of one method over the other in terms of pain reduction and patient satisfaction is not yet investigated.
