Shielding of the electromagnetic waves is reducing the intensity of space-based electromagnetic field and its undesirable interferences by obstructing the waves using conductive barriers or magnetic materials. Shielding of electromagnetic waves is often aimed at isolating critical and special systems and structures such as power plants, hospitals, digital systems and data centers, radio and television transmitters and receivers, telecommunication systems, petrochemical refinery sites, personal electronic tools, and biosystems. In addition, due to the use of sensitive electrical, electronic, and telecommunication tools and wearables the harmful effects of electromagnetic waves arise, and protecting the human body looks to be a critical issue in the near future. Many materials have been developed for electromagnetic interface (EMI) shielding purpose, and several methods have been commercialized. Fluoropolymers and their nanocomposite derivatives are among the most promising materials for EMI shielding implementations. Numerous research works are reported in the literature in this field. In this chapter, an attempt has been made to give an overview of the EMI shielding applications of fluoropolymer nanocomposites in general and benchmark the main research achievements.
