Rationalizing AI Governance: A Cross-Disciplinary Perspective

[enter Abstract Body]To the public, AI has two faces: “Good AI” and “Bad AI”. Concerns about AI range from labor displacement to social manipulation to existential threat. Others see it as key to solving pressing global challenges. Without a better understanding of AI, popular anxiety may lead to policies which may slow or block realization of the benefits. To build trust, sound AI governance requires a cross-disciplinary approach to clarification of its core concepts. This Paper addresses two questions: 1) In light of the potential risks and benefits of AI, what is the best way to introduce it safely to maximize Well-being and sustainability? and 2) What specific policy steps should be taken to implement it?
