3D in vitro models to predict the suitability of perichondrocytes and chondrocytes from microtia patients for autologous auricular reconstruction.

Introduction 3D in vitro models could help to determine whether isolated cells from microtia patients are suitable for autologous reconstruction of the ear. This study therefore investigated the behaviour of cells from the perichondrium and cartilage tissue of microtia patients in two commonly used 3D models (spheroid culture and scaffold-based 3D cell culture).
