Fisetin, a Dietary Flavonoid, Promotes Transintestinal Cholesterol Excretion Through the Activation of PPARδ

•Fisetin reduced serum cholesterol levels and alleviated hepatic steatosis in mice.•Fisetin stimulated the excretion of fecal neutral sterol and cholesterol efflux through TICE.•Fisetin enhanced expression of ABCG5/G8 and ABCB1 and inhibited NPC1L1 expression.•Fisetin lowered cholesterol through enhancing TICE by its activation of intestinal PPARδ.
