•LPA was conducted to identify cognitive function subgroups of CRC patients.•Inflammation-related biomarkers were associated with the subtypes of CRCI.•SIRI and ALI were independent factors for CRCI in CRC patients.•SIRI and ALI may potentially be novel indicators to identify and manage CRCI.
