An Overview on Research and Development of Low Cost Titanium Alloys

Due to excellent mechanical properties combined with low density, good corrosion resistance and weldability, titanium alloy acts as attractive structural materials for aerospace, ship navigation, weaponry and nuclear industry now. However, its high cost hinders the wide application of titanium alloy in different fields, and it is the key factor of low. In the present paper, we summarized the research on low-cost titanium alloy from the perspective of raw materials, preparation technology and cooperation of titanium industry chain. Finally we proposed some suggestions for the development of low-cost titanium alloys.
