Synthesis and characterization of high-flux ZIF-90/poly-dimethyldiethoxysilane (PDMDES) mixed matrix membrane for enhanced pervaporation recovery of alcohols

•ZIF-90/PDMDES MMMs effectively separate alcohols from aqueous solution.•Three distinctive cross-sectional morphologies of the MMMs have been identified.•In the newly prepared MMMs, a maximum ZIF-90 loading of 10 wt% was achieved.•Separation performance of MMMs has been optimized at the ZIF-90 loading of 5 wt%.•ZIF-90/PDMDES MMM exhibits superior performance to most MMMs with various fillers.
