Nitrogen Boil-Off Method of Measuring AC Losses in Twisted-Stacked HTS Conductor

High-temperature superconducting twisted stacked conductors are one of the promising candidates for fusion magnets and particle acceleration magnets due to their higher critical current density, better mechanical strength, thermal stability, and complete translocation. We investigated the magnetization AC losses of multi-slot stacked twisted conductors without interlayer insulation using calorimetry and measured the losses incurred by the tapes after the removal of the skeleton. The magnetization loss of this conductor was calculated using the three-dimensional T-A equation and compared with the measured results of the calorimetric method. The results of this article will provide magnetization loss data to support the optimal design of multi-slot stacked conductors.
