Scalable and Connector-less 3D Antenna Arrays

Abstract
This paper reviews different 3D antenna arrays with connector-less interface to active components. The examples show that 3D antennas may provide superior bandwidth, efficiency and beam steering range as compared to their thin, planar counterparts. 3D antenna arrays can additionally facilitate denser integration of electronic components and be used as a radome or for cooling.
