1,1ʹ-Dimethyl-4,4ʹ-bipyridinium (“paraquat”) was used as a structure-directing counterion in the solvo-hydrothermal synthesis of seven uranyl ion complexes with polycarboxylates, resulting in some novel arrangements and allowing an analysis of the weak interactions involved.
