Treatment-resistant depression patients with baseline suicidal ideation required more treatments to achieve therapeutic response with ketamine/esketamine

•Rising suicide rates and depression highlight need for urgent interventions to reduce suicidality.•We investigate the antisuicidal properties of ketamine and esketamine among patients with treatment-resistant depression.•The patients with baseline suicidal ideation required more treatments to achieve a response with ketamine/esketamine.•The anti-suicidal response seemed similar between IV ketamine and IN esketamine.
