Decision Making in Flexible Manufacturing Systems Using Machine Learning Algorithm: A Review

In Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS), decision making plays an important role in optimizing production and operational efficiency. This decision making should be efficient and adaptive. Machine Learning (ML) has become a fundamental tool to improve decision making in FMS. This paper discusses the foundations of FMS, the importance of decision making and how ML can revolutionize this process. A review of the algorithms used in decision making using ML in FMS is showed. To illustrate this integration a case study of an FMS is presented.
