Rotating single-electrode triboelectric V-belts with skidding and wear monitoring capabilities

An intelligent transmission system called the rotating single -electrode triboelectric V -belt (SE-TEV), which integrates a triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) with V -belt and adopts a rolling contact -separation mode has been proposed. The SE-TEV design utilizes the excess space between the V -belt and wheel groove, avoiding direct contact with the working surface of V -belt. The effect of structural and environmental parameters on optimizing the SE-TEV's output have been investigated. Furthermore, the SE-TEV demonstrates self -powering and selfsensing capabilities for speed monitoring. As the V -belt experiences elastic sliding or massive skidding, the frequency decreases and fluctuation increases. During massive skidding, the frequency shakes violently until it decreases to 0. The time -frequency analysis and fast Fourier transform of triboelectric signal prove the effectiveness on diagnosing worn V -belts.
