And after the archive? a look at geohistorical sources and their role within historical geography

This paper includes a reflection on the exponential growth that is taking place around geohistorical sources, and its link with the changes in paradigms that technology is introducing. The journey through the role of this extensive documentary set in research inevitably leads us to also raise another look at its treatment, which to a certain extent points to a vindication of disciplinary precepts. Given the current situation, and looking to the future, it is necessary for historical geography to recover preeminently as the theoretical and epistemological framework in which geohistorical sources are inserted, in order to unite them with a theory, methods and tools in a disciplinary context of departure. Along three sections we will carry out a journey that will bring the reader closer to geohistorical sources and the democratization of their use. The second shows a review of the use of geohistorical sources in light of new technologies. Both analyses allow to establish a position on the role of the sources in a theoretical framework, already in the third section and linked to some final conclusions.
