Removal of an aspirated cotton swab through a tracheal t-tube

Airway foreign body management in t-tube dependent patients presents a ventilatory dilemma. We report a case of a patient who accidentally aspirated a cotton swab through her t-tube. A combined approach of direct laryngoscopy and instrumentation via the tracheal stoma was used to retrieve the foreign body while leaving the t-tube in situ.
