Bruce D. Cook

Bruce Cook currently serves as a Senior Manager for advanced materials within the Electronics and Applied Physics Division at RTI International in Research Triangle Park, NC. Dr. Cook received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Iowa State University in 1999, after receiving an MS in solid state physics. Dr. Cook joined RTI after serving as the Principal Investigator for thermoelectric materials and advanced coatings research at Ames Laboratory (U.S. DoE). His background includes over 15 years of research on a wide variety of materials for TE power generation and waste heat conversion applications, including more than 80 publications and 10 patents and disclosures, in addition to book chapters in Modern Thermoelectics—Macro to Nano, CRC Press. He has taught several classes in materials science & engineering at Iowa State University in addition to his research on thermoelectric materials and wear-resistant coatings. Dr. Cook has also collaborated on Department of Energy (DOE)-funded research involving powder processing, lead-free solder, and advanced permanent magnets.
