Cancer remains a significant global health issue, exacerbated by population growth and aging. Immunotherapy has emerged as a promising treatment by leveraging the immune system to eliminate tumors. However, challenges such as inadequate immune activation, poor targeting, and side effects persist. Recent advancements in biomaterials, including liposomes, nanoparticles, micelles, and hydrogels, offer innovative solutions to these limitations. These engineered materials enhance the delivery and efficacy of immunotherapeutic agents, improve pharmacokinetics, enable controlled release, facilitate immune cell interactions, and reduce off-target toxicity. This review discusses the synergy between biomaterials and tumor immunotherapy, exploring current technologies, mechanisms, and future directions for personalized cancer treatments. Ongoing research in this interdisciplinary domain aims to develop next-generation immunotherapies with improved precision and therapeutic outcomes.
This paper examines the effect of banks’ non-interest income on various components of systemic risk and examines the moderating role of bank size. Using data from listed banks across 69 countries from 2010 to 2020, we find that an increase in non-interest income raises both the systematic and excess components of banks’ systemic risk. Contrary to the findings of De Jonghe et al. (2015), which suggest that the positive effect of non-interest income on systemic risk diminishes as bank size increases, we observe that this negative interaction effect of bank size disappears in the post-financial crisis period. Specifically, improvements in financial development significantly weaken this negative interaction effect of bank size. Additionally, the impact of different aspects of financial development on this negative interaction effect varies. We find that in countries with greater financial openness and stronger creditor protection, the negative interaction effect is significantly weakened and may even reverse. Conversely, financial innovations tend to amplify the negative interaction effect.
Although governments provide environmental subsidies to encourage firms to enhance environmental governance, whether these subsidies effectively improve disclosure quality remains uncertain. This study applies a fixed-effects model to examine the relationship between environmental subsidies and environmental disclosure quality. The results show that subsidies significantly enhance disclosure quality in the Electricity, Heat, Gas, and Water Production and Supply industry, a carbon-intensive and highly regulated sector. Larger and older firms also disclose more, whereas financial pressure undermines disclosure performance. The findings highlight the importance of linking subsidy allocation to disclosure outcomes, providing targeted support for SMEs, and strengthening regulatory oversight to improve overall disclosure quality and advance sustainable corporate development.
