The Government of Portugal is one of the four sovereignty bodies of the Portuguese Republic, together with the President of the Republic, the Assembly of the Republic and the courts. It is both the body of sovereignty that conducts the general politics of the country and the superior body of the Portuguese public administration. The Government of Portugal is also referred to as the Government of the Portuguese Republic, the Portuguese Government or simply the Government. The term "constitutional government" or simply "government" also refers to the team of ministers and its period of management under one prime minister. This concept is similar to an "administration" in the parlance of a presidential republic or to an "collective ministry" in the parlance of some Commonwealth countries. Each government in this sense is identified by a roman number, with the present one (formed in March 2022) being the XXIII Constitutional Government of Portugal since the establishment of the current democratic regime, in 1976..
Introduction: burnout syndrome is a global occupational crisis that seriously affects the mental health of healthcare workers and the quality of medical care. The COVID-19 pandemic has intensified this phenomenon, highlighting the urgent need for effective diagnosis and prevention strategies. Objective: to analyse the prevalence, risk factors, diagnostic tools, and intervention strategies for burnout syndrome in healthcare personnel, based on recent scientific evidence.Method: a systematic review of the scientific literature (2019–2024) was conducted following PRISMA guidelines. International databases (PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane, SciELO) were consulted, selecting 28 studies of high methodological quality that evaluated prevalence, risks, instrument validity, and the effectiveness of preventive interventions. Results: the overall prevalence of burnout among healthcare workers was 39%, reaching up to 59.5 % among nurses during the pandemic. The main risk factors were workplace bullying (OR: 4.05–15.01), low job satisfaction (OR: 5.05) and high perceived stress (OR: 4.21). Among the diagnostic instruments, the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and the Oldenburg Burnout Inventory (OLBI) showed the best psychometric properties. Mindfulness-based and coaching interventions moderately reduced burnout (SMD: -0.44).Conclusions: burnout is a multifactorial problem where organisational causes predominate. It is recommended to implement preventive institutional policies, strengthen workplace wellbeing and standardise diagnostic tools to improve the sustainability of the healthcare system.
Effectivechildhood obesity management requires multicomponent interventions in Primary Health Care (PHC), engaging families, communities, and healthcare professionals to foster healthier behaviors. This study evaluated the effect of a controlled intervention on the nutritional status and ultra-processed food (UPF) consumption of children with obesity receiving PHC services. A randomized clinical trial was conducted with children from PHC units in Betim, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Twenty units were randomly selected and allocated into control (CG) and intervention groups (IG). Children aged 6–10 years with obesity (z-score ≥ +2 for BMI/age) were included. The estimated sample size was 47 per group, considering 20
Klebsiella pneumoniae is an uncommon but increasingly recognized cause of Lemierre's syndrome, a condition classically associated with Fusobacterium necrophorum. This report describes a 32-year-old woman with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus who presented with a progressive odontogenic infection complicated by internal jugular vein thrombosis and cavitary septic pulmonary emboli. Imaging demonstrated a deep neck abscess with adjacent thrombophlebitis, and cultures from surgical drainage yielded K. pneumoniae with a wild-type susceptibility profile. The patient required invasive mechanical ventilation, broad-spectrum antibiotics, surgical source control, and therapeutic anticoagulation, resulting in complete clinical recovery. A review of published cases from 1996 to 2025 was performed, highlighting diabetes as the predominant risk factor, odontogenic or oropharyngeal disease as the most common source, and septic pulmonary emboli as a hallmark manifestation. This case represents the second documented instance of K. pneumoniae-associated Lemierre's syndrome in Nicaragua and reinforces the need for early imaging, prompt surgical management, and targeted antimicrobial therapy in diabetic patients presenting with deep neck infections.
