Objective:In order to explore the correlation between quality with different commodity specifications of American ginseng,the safety and effectiveness of quality analysis were employed.Methods:94 samples of American ginseng were collected and divided into 4 types which are original plexus,round grain,long dried American ginseng and short dried American ginseng.And the alcohol soluble extract,contents of ginsenosides,heveay metals and organochlo-rine pesticide residues were determined.Principal component analysis(PCA)and correlation analysis(CA)was applied to explore the correlation between the quality with different commodity specifications of American ginseng.Results:Refer to Chinese Pharmacopoeia the content and heveay mental of 94 American ginseng were qualified,but some or-ganochlorine pesticide residues exceeding standard requirements.The effectiveness PCA score from long dried Ameri-can ginseng,short dried American ginseng,round grain to original plexus were 0.042 3,0.042 6,0.046 0,0.043 3.And the security PCA score from short dried American ginseng,original plexus,long dried American ginseng to round grain were 0.4592,0.4072,0.4482,0.4622 in different commodity specifications of American ginseng.There are positive correlation between effectiveness PCA score and weight in different commodity specifications of American ginseng.But There are only round grain of American ginseng was positive correlation,correlation with security.With the higher the weight(≤25g/branch),the better the quality,and the lower the safety of the round grain.Conclusion:The results show that the internal quality of American ginseng is related to different commodity specifications,which provides the relationship for the traditional commodity specification of American ginseng and lays the foundation for the market cir-culation.
