PRIMM (Predict-Run-Investigate-Modify-Make) is an approach to teaching programming that focuses on code comprehension as well as providing a structure for lessons. Little research has investigated how PRIMM can be used in primary education. This paper describes a small-scale practitioner inquiry project whereby PRIMM was used to teach 8-9 year-old students in a school in England. Two teachers implemented the practice using a series of adapted lessons which incorporated actions for the children to help them remember the PRIMM stages. Analysis of qualitative data from pupils and teachers showed that pupils developed a sense of agency from learning the actions and that the teachers were able to readily assess student progress. Further work could explore the use of PRIMM at the primary level in a wider range of schools.
to explore a paradigm shift in the definition of opioid-responsive cancer pain in this hypothesis-driven review. Opioid-responsive cancer pain may be misplaced within the definition of chronic pain, chronic pain takes three months to establish, early effective control is worthwhile to achieve. findings, from a bench-to-bed perspective, debates the interpretation of results supporting the hypothesis that opioid-responsive cancer pain could remain ‘constant acute pain’, with explanations, best solutions, for tolerance and/or addiction, in cancer patients compared to those with chronic pain from other conditions. Unraveling the unique apparent properties of opioid-responsive cancer pain empowers knowledge of the process by which acute pain may have the potential to remain acute in nature and not transition into chronic pain. Findings outlined defend the hypothesis of probable sustained acute nature of opioid-responsive cancer pain, importance of early, sustained pain control, opioid reduction and further exploration of this hypothesis in clinical practice.

The war in Gaza has destroyed hospitals and fertility centers, leaving women without essential maternal and fertility care. To examine the impact of war on reproductive health in Gaza, focusing on maternal care disruption, fertility service destruction, and reproductive rights violations. A narrative review of peer-reviewed studies, humanitarian reports, and testimonies was conducted. The Integrated Care Programme for Older People (ICPOP) teams provide services to older adults living with frailty, to maintain their independence at home. Preventing admission and supporting transition from hospital to home are aims of the service. Our team takes referrals from hospital wards, ED, GPs, and Geriatric OPDs. Our study analyses the more complex patients that were supported by ICPOP at the point of discharge from hospital and the effect on hospital re-attendance. The ICPOP database was reviewed from December 2022 to January 2025. Patients who were referred to the team to support a hospital discharge were included. We collected data on ED presentations and hospital admissions during the period of active ICPOP involvement in the patient’s care and in the three months following discharge from the ICPOP service. A total of 80 cases (average age 82) were included in this study. During the time of ICPOP involvement, 16 patients (20%) attended ED & 14 (17.5%) of these were re-admitted. In the 3 month period after discharge from the community team, a total of 15 (18%) patients were re-admitted to hospital. Falls were the most common reason for admission. There were 3 deaths in the cohort during the study period. A systematic review demonstrated re-admission rates of 5.5-35% for the >65years at 90 days. One study showed the highest re-admission rates (34.3%) in moderately frail patients, a cohort similar to our population. Our re-admission rates are considerably lower for this high risk group, and support the theory that ICPOP care can have a positive effect on the use of emergency hospital services. 1. To illustrate this, we present the clinical image and case of a 37-year-old woman who developed a pruritic, papular eruption on both eyebrows 8 months after semipermanent tattooing.
