
Three names in the genus Cistus L. are analysed from a nomenclatural perspective: Cistus pouzolzii Delile, C. & times; florentinus Lam., and C. & times; varius Pourr. The corresponding lectotypes for C. pouzolzii Delile and C. varius Pourr. are designated based on specimens preserved in the herbarium of Mus & eacute;um national d'Histoire naturelle de Paris, at P. The name C. & times; florentinus was studied by Demoly, who designated its lectotype from a specimen preserved in the P herbarium in 1994. Through the typification of C. & times; varius Pourr., we conclude, as Demoly previously stated, that the name C. varius Pourr. should definitively be considered a later synonym of C. & times; florentinus Lam., the priority name for naming the hybrid between C. monspeliensis L. and C. salviifolius L. Finally, the lectotypification of C. pouzolzii L. led us to conclude that it is an independent species unrelated to the aforementioned hybrid.
A new species in the genus Cynorkis Thouars (Orchidaceae), Cynorkis benaraensis Vennetier, Traclet & Dimassi, sp. nov. is described for the island of Mayotte. This taxon is only known from 6 stations around the summit of Mount B & eacute;nara, the highest point of the island of Mayotte (660 m), from where it is endemic. It differs from the other Cynorkis species in section Gibbosorchis H.Perrier by a combination of several characteristics: foliage appearing after anthesis, tubers that can form long rhizomes on cliff, strongly glandular-hispid sepals, a pink labellum with a darker central spot, an almost exclusively rupicolous habit (on phonolite) and a flowering period during mid-June to mid-September. The description is based on herbarium material collected at these localities, as well as a living specimen grown in Mayotte at the Conservatoire botanique national de Mascarin (CBNM). The species' threat status is estimated as vulnerable (VU) according to IUCN criteria.
Hechtia atlantica Hern.-C & aacute;rdenas, Espejo & L & oacute;pez-Ferr., sp. nov., a new taxon from the state of Veracruz in Mexico, is described and illustrated. The proposed species is compared with H. myriantha Mez and H. schottii Baker, taxa with some similarities. Hechtia atlantica sp. nov. differs from these by the size of the rosette and leaf sheath, the shape of the sepals and petals of the staminate flowers, and the flowering season. A morphological description and images of the new species are provided, as well as a comparison table, an identification key, a list of examined specimens, and a distribution map of all Hechtia Klotzsch species present in Veracruz.
Colette Nt & eacute;p & eacute;-Nyam & egrave; (flor. 1970-1988) was the first African botanist to specialize in the systematics of the Araceae, beginning with her doctoral studies at the Universit & eacute; Louis Pasteur at Strasbourg and culminating in the family account for the Flore du Cameroun. She was the first woman and the first African botanist to contribute a volume to this major Flora series. Her treatment, though published almost 40 years ago, remains foundational for aroid taxonomic studies in tropical Africa, being the most extensive and detailed so far published for any country and covering the region where aroids are most diverse; through her own collections she made the largest contribution of herbarium specimens of any field collector to this treatment. She was the first botanist to study African aroid hemiepiphytes in detail and she made innovative discoveries in the genus Culcasia P. Beauv. where she significantly advanced the taxonomy of this notoriously difficult genus. The importance of her work has not previously been recognized sufficiently, but became plain during the recent preparation of the Araceae treatment for the Flore du Gabon. A lasting testament to her botanical perspicacity and determination was the discovery and publication of the magnificent central African hemi-epiphyte Cercestis camerunensis (Nt & eacute;p & eacute;-Nyam & egrave;) Bogner (as Rhektophyllum camerunense Nt & eacute;p & eacute;-Nyam & egrave;), and its untangling from the sympatric C. mirabilis (N.E.Br.) Bogner. Her early death robbed tropical Africa of an eminent systematist of Araceae.
In course of taxonomic studies carried out on Indian members of the genus Globba L. (Zingiberaceae Martinov.), the following four names, viz. Globba brachycarpa Baker, G. canarenis Baker, G. pauciflora Baker and G. platystachya Baker, required typifications; new lectotypes are designated herewith in accordance with the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi and plants.
Teucrium L. is one of the largest genera in the family Lamiaceae. In India, ten species have been reported so far. While revising the genus Teucrium in India, it was found that three names require lectotypification. Accordingly, lectotypes are designated here for Teucrium wattii Prain, Teucrium plectranthoides Gamble and Teucrium quadrifarium Buch.-Ham. ex D.Don.
Lectotypes are designated for two names, viz., Euonymus wrayi King and Glyptopetalum grandiflorum Beddome following the Madrid Code, based on a thorough consultation of the protologue, original material, and relevant literature. Additionally, notes on the correct taxonomic position of Hippocratea angulata Griff. are provided herein.
A contribution to the typification of two endemic species of Salvia from T & uuml;rkiye is presented. The names of S. smyrnaea Boiss. and S. eriophora Boiss. & Kotschy ex Boiss. are inadvertently lectotypified, and therefore, require second-step lectotypification. The designated lectotypes of S. smyrnaea and S. eriophora are housed at the Geneva herbarium from the Boissier collection.
Neottia motuoensis X.H.Jin, a recently described orchid from China, has been studied, and the morphological characters of the species have been compared to those of Neottia alternifolia (King & Pantl.) Szlach. based on protologue, type specimens, and fresh collections from the Indian Himalayan Region. Both species showed identical or overlapping characters and were found conspecific. Additionally, upon reviewing the original materials of the name, it has been determined that the name a lectotype has been selected here for the name.
The tropical and subtropical Asian genus Hedychium J.Koenig (Zingiberaceae) comprises over 90 recognized species, with more than twice as many published names. It is renowned for its enduring taxonomic uncertainties. Here, we assign the lectotype for H. thyrsiforme Buch.-Ham. ex Sm. and provide comprehensive morphological description for this species.
Madagascar and the other islands of the western Indian Ocean are the foremost center of species diversity of the genus Psiadia Jacq. ex Willd. (Compositae, Astereae). Revising the material housed in the historical herbaria P-JU and P-LA, we realized that the name P. madagascariensis (Lam.) DC., based on Lamarck's name Conyza madagascariensis Lam., was misinterpreted and should be the priority name for the widely used Psiadia altissima (DC.) Benth. & Hook.f. ex B.D. Jacks. To avoid further misinterpretation, the types of the names Conyza glutinosa Lam. [accepted as Psiadia glutinosa (Lam.) Willd.] and Glyphia lucida Cass. [accepted as Psiadia lucida (Cass.) Drake] are discussed and clarified. In this frame, lectotypes are designated for six names. Moreover, the species P. lucida is recorded for the first time in the Comoros (Grande Comore). Finally, a new disciform species of Psiadia from Madagascar, i.e., Psiadia salicifolia J. Calvo & Callm., sp. nov., is described and illustrated.

Comments and corrections on two recent papers regarding the nomenclature and typification of some Cynorkis Thouars from Mauritius and La R & eacute;union are presented, namely the identity of Cynorkis inermis (Thouars) Hermans & P.J.Cribb and the typification of Cynorkis micrantha (Frapp. ex Cordem.) Schltr. The typification of C. arnottioides Rchb.f. is also mentioned.
Corydalis wendelboi subsp. fragilis subsp. nov. (Papaveraceae), a new subspecies is described from northwest Anatolia, T & uuml;rkiye. It is closely related to C. wendelboi subsp. wendelboi Lid & eacute;n and C. wendelboi subsp. congesta Lid & eacute;n & Zetterl. but it differs in having very narrowly lobed leaves, in having bracts, which are smaller and divided into very thin lobes, and in more lax racemes. The ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS 1, 5.8 S rRNA, ITS 2) region was employed to ascertain the phylogenetic relationship of Corydalis DC. species, utilising Maximum Likelihood and Bayes Inference methods. The phylogenetic results provided compelling evidence in support of the description of this new subspecies. An identification key has been created to facilitate the morphological distinction of closely related taxa.
