
Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) addresses a critical challenge in Human Resource Management (HRM) by optimising and personalising HR processes, thereby enhancing decision-making and operational efficiency. This study traces the academic and conceptual development of GAI in HRM using a bibliometric approach informed by Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The analysis covers 262 articles indexed in the Web of Science between 1991 and 2024. The field shows an annual growth rate of 15.31 percent, an average of 24.38 citations per article, contributions from 827 authors and 48.89 % international co-authorship. Research activity accelerates after 2020, with 2024 as the most prolific year, producing 110 articles. Co-occurrence and thematic mapping reveal central clusters around artificial intelligence, performance, technology, and HRM, while ethically oriented themes such as bias, explainability and privacy remain underexplored. Interpreted through SHRM, bibliometric patterns highlight the strategic alignment of human capital and decision augmentation, while the TAM perspective extends beyond usefulness and ease of use to include ethical trust, transparency and algorithmic neutrality. For researchers, future priorities include causal and mixed-methods studies on bias, privacy, and transparency. For practitioners, organisational readiness in governance, data protection and capability building is critical for responsible adoption.
The recent digital revolution of Library and Information Science (LIS) has transformed bibliographic data into huge datasets, which have no organised structure and can only be explored through sophisticated analytical systems. This paper uses Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modeling of 279 publications (1974-2024) of Scopus indexed publications on emerging library trends. After undergoing intensive text preprocessing on RStudio, there came up five overarching themes, namely, digital preservation, bibliometric analysis, digital libraries and services, online learning platforms, and emerging LIS trends. Findings reveal that digital preservation (approximately 30 % of topic coverage) and equal coverage of bibliometrics, digital services, and online learning (approximately 20 % each) were the areas of strong research, and the emergent trends include approximately 10 % of coverage. These results emphasise the growing adoption of digital technologies, data analysis and preservation policies in LIS research. The research paper provides viable suggestions that libraries, especially in the developing world can implement to pursue data-driven planning, enhance digital preservation policies, and train employees to be proficient in computational practices. Projecting these themes on current global and Indian LIS trends, the study offers comparative evidence and practice based suggestions on how to empower digital library frameworks and expert abilities.
This investigation was carried out in Gauhati University central library using the SERVQUAL (Service Quality) framework to evaluate the quality of library services provided for research activities. It intends to deliver a comprehensive assessment of service efficacy and pinpoint service quality deficiencies across the five SERVQUAL criteria. For data collection, an online questionnaire containing 22 SERVQUAL-based statements was issued to researchers of the university to investigate differences in their expectations and perceptions regarding library services provided for research purposes. In total, 110 valid responses were received and analyzed, revealing notable service quality gaps across all SERVQUAL’s five categories. Amongst them, Reliability shows the highest Average Gap Score (-0.85), followed by Assurance (-0.84), Empathy (-0.80) and Responsiveness (-0.75). Reliability and Assurance dimension show considerable deficits, predominantly in research support, resource availability, and service consistency. The empathy and responsiveness dimensions raised concerns regarding library hours, personalized services, and response times. The tangibles dimension showed overall stability with the lowest gap of -0.52. The study proposes a three-phased implementation framework that comprises enhancements of core services, user-centric upgrades, and infrastructure development to increase service efficiency and raise library standards. This study presented a user perception- based evaluation of Gauhati University’s research-oriented library services, as well as recommendations for enhancing user satisfaction and library performance.
The integration Information and Communication Technology has become a vital element in turning academic libraries into effective service-oriented knowledge centers. This study evaluates the availability, utilisation and satisfaction level of digital infrastructure and offered services in the libraries of five professional universities in Bihar, India. The study employed a descriptive survey design. Data were collected from librarians and users through structured questionnaires and direct observation. A total of 102 responses were obtained from the users. 97 valid responses were analysed using descriptive statistics, Chi-square and Cramer’s V analysis. The findings reveal a heterogenous ICT landscape with all the libraries implementing core systems like Koha or SOUL, OPAC and INFLIBNET membership. Advanced tools like RFID, institutional-repositories and cloud based platforms were available in few Universities. Highest user satisfaction for e-books and OPAC, but lower for remote-access and orientation services. Librarians reported highest satisfaction with LMS use, but cited lack of staffing and funding as the major challenges. Notably, 60 % of libraries lacked formal user-satisfaction assessment. Despite these limitations, most libraries planned ICT advancements, including AI-enabled tools and software upgrades. Yet, ICT impact remains uneven, highlighting the need for stronger staff capacity, ICT policies and user feedback to improve library services and digital education.
This study explores the integration of mobile-based social media applications by librarians to enhance libraryservices and user engagement in all 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in India. The widespread adoptionof mobile and social media technologies has significantly transformed the way information is delivered and howlibraries interact with users in real time. The primary objectives of this study are to assess the role of mobilebased social media applications in enhancing library services and user engagement in IIT libraries across India. Adescriptive survey design was used and a structured questionnaire was used that was administered in-person andvia the internet to all the library professionals in each of the 23 IITs in India. The questionnaire was administeredbetween October and November 2024 and has 100 percent response rate. Basic statistical techniques were usedto analyse the collected data and they were presented in percentages and as in a table. The research indicatesthat 100 percent of IIT libraries have been using mobile and social media applications in order to improve theirservices. Facebook (73.9 %), LinkedIn (56.3 %), X/Twitter (47.8 %), YouTube (43.5 %), Instagram (34.8 %),WhatsApp (13 %) and Flickr (4.3 %) most popular platforms have been used. These platforms will be good sourcesof information dissemination, outreach, and interaction with users. The research paper brings out the increasinginterest in mobile and social media tools by academic libraries and the users. It also concludes that these technologies play an essential role in modernising the services of libraries and enhancing their interaction with users by means of dynamic, accessible and mobile-friendly platforms.
The present study examines awareness, practices and policy gaps related to digital sustainability and the Net Zero agenda in academic libraries of higher education institutions ranked by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in Jammu & Kashmir, India. Given the growing environmental impact of digital infrastructures, academic libraries are important stakeholders in advancing sustainable digital transformations. Through a survey of library professionals in NIRF-ranked institutions of Jammu & Kashmir, the study reveals differing levels of digital sustainability awareness and adoption. Results show strong conceptual awareness of sustainability principles, yet institutional policy frameworks remain limited and the implementation of sustainable Information and Communication Technology (ICT) practices, such as energy-efficient computing, e-waste management and green procurement, remains fragmented. Barriers identified include financial limitations, lack of training and weak governance structures. Notably, cloud-hosted systems and open access initiatives are increasingly embraced, indicating budding progress. The study highlights the need for policy alignment, infrastructure investment and capacity building to translate awareness into action.
The present study provides a detailed scientometric evaluation of 126,727 SDG-related LIS publications in India during the period 2015-2024 based on the data extracted from the OpenAlex database. It analyses the development of publications, citations, ollaborations and the distribution of topics among the SDGs. The study addresses the lack of large-scale, LIS-focused SDG assessment nationally. The results demonstrate that SDG-oriented LIS research has grown steadily over the past ten years. The RGR analysis indicates a continuous decrease of the proportional growth of both publications and citations, which is associated with a corresponding increase of the doubling time, indicating structural maturation of the research domain instead of accelerating expansion. Annual production dropped in 2024, but the total number of publications and citations continued to grow. This decline is likely caused by lag times in database indexing and partial coverage of recently published works.The Authorship Pattern and Citation Relationship quantify average citation impact by team size and indicate that larger collaborative teams have greater citation visibility. The SDG-wise distribution shows concentration in health, innovation, and governance-related SDGs, while some of the lower-output SDGs have comparatively high citation impact. Time-series predictions suggest a total of 25,257 publications by 2030, reflecting continued involvement in SDG-related LIS research. The results can help in planning research, strategies for collaboration and policy development in the sustainable knowledge ecosystem in India.
In the current scenario, digital libraries have revolutionised access to information for diverse audiences, but addressing challenges in usability and accessibility is crucial to ensure they remain practical tools for knowledge dissemination and user engagement. It’s objectives to identify common challenges, such as information overload and accessibility barriers, and propose solutions to create inclusive and intuitive digital library platforms. The present study employs descriptive research with a survey approach, combining literature review, usability studies and case analyses of successful digital library designs while applying user-centred design principles and accessibility guidelines and exploring the role of emerging technologies like AI and ML in enhancing user experience and accessibility. There were 200 participants enrolled and 135 completed data were collected from Sum Nursing College, Siksha‘O’Anusandhan Deemed to be University. (Students and Faculties). It was found that intuitive navigation, adaptive technologies and personalised user interfaces were crucial for improving accessibility and user satisfaction in digital libraries. This paper provides new insights into how user experience design and digital accessibility intersect in digital libraries, offering practical recommendations for more inclusive environments, particularly useful for designers, developers, librarians and policymakers. Enhancing the user experience and accessibility of digital libraries through user-centred design and adaptive technologies is essential for fostering an inclusive digital ecosystem, ensuring equitable access to information and promoting continuous innovation for a more inclusive digital future.
This study intends to analyse the material research productivity of the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and assess the impact, visibility, and joint patterns of its research output. The study is based on 4697 research papers within materials science, published by DRDO scientists and indexed in the Scopus database during the period 2000-2024. The objective of the study is to understand the growth, pattern and impact of materials research in DRDO. The method used to extract the bibliographic records associated with DRDO is based on keyword searches. The results show an annual growth rate of 11.31 % with 99,688 citations received and an average of 25.85 citations per paper. The analysis shows consistent growth in DRDO’s research output withinmaterials science, with substantial contributions in metals, alloys, composites, polymers, and ceramics. The research is highly interdisciplinary, reflecting collaborations through physics, chemistry, engineering, and applied sciences. Keyword and collaborative authorship mapping show strong intro-institutional collaboration as well as emerging global partnerships. The results also identify core journals, prolific authors, and leading institutions associated with DRDO’s materials research. This study detects trends, research hotspots and joint efforts networks that may help the DRDO strengthen its R&D strategies, foster wider academic-industry partnerships and enhance India’s impact in critical materials research.
Open licenses are crucial in the field of OERs, as they define how and to what extent a resource can be used. This study examines the license types, resource accessibility, and open practices of 27 major OER platforms in India, employing a mixed-methods approach and in-depth analysis of their websites. The objective is to understand how discoverability and content sharing are facilitated through open licensing. The majority of the platforms, developed under key Ministry of Education initiatives, provide resources under a range of open licenses from CC BY to CC BY-NC-ND. Only a third of the platforms host all content on their own sites, and few provide resources in innovative formats, podcasts and YouTube videos. The study revealed negligence in the adoption of a coherent licensing policy, contradictions in license information, and the lack of implementation of open practices. Inconsistency in licensing creates uncertainty regarding the reuse of content. It is recommended that each resource include complete metadata with clear licensing information.
This Scientometric study explores 35 years (1989–2023) of Indian research indexed on Web of Science pertaining to discipline of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs). A total of 8,057 documents, authored by 21,094 researchers and published in 1,551 journals, were analysed using MS Excel, Biblioshiny and VOSviewer. The findings reveal significant growth in MAPs research, especially after 2007, with a citation peak in 2021. Bradford’s Law identified Journal of Ethnopharmacology and Indian Journal of Traditional Knowledge as core journals. Key authors include Javad Sharifi-Rad and Abhijit Dey. Citation analysis highlighted top-cited studies focusing on MAPs therapeutic applications for diseases like diabetes and oxidative stress. CSIR emerged as the leading institution, contributing 934 publications and 29,993 citations, with an average of 32.11 citations per publication. Keyword analysis shows prominent research themes such as “medicinal plants”, “antioxidant”, “traditional medicine”, “phytochemicals”, “apptosis” and “oxidative stress”. National funding bodies like “University Grants Commission”, CSIR, and “Department of Science and echnology” (DST) played key roles in supporting MAPs research. Publications are dominated by a few key publisher s viz. Elsevier, Springer Nature, Taylor & Francis and Wiley, which account for 55 % of the total output. India’s MAPs research involves collaboration with 133 countries, notably USA, China, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and Italy. This study underscores India’s pivotal role in MAPs research andscape and provides data-driven insights to support future MAPs research planning, funding and policy-making.
This research addresses the growing need for open innovation in universities to support Sustainable Development Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure). Currently, universities adopt the fourth-generation model and focus not only on education but also on the practice of open innovation. Therefore, this study proposes a digital collaboration platform model to support open innovation in universities and strengthen innovation capacity. This study applies Soft Systems Methodology (SSM), supported by analytical techniques such as fishbone, rich picture, CATWOE, P/Q/R analysis, gap analysis, assessment criteria based on 3Es (Efficiency, efficacy, and effectiveness) and conceptual diagrams, this research produces artifacts that reflect multi-stakeholder perspectives while enriching information systems theory. The platform model was developed based on in-depth interviews with six participants representing key stakeholders, consisting of 3 participants representing universities, 2 participants representing the Ministry of Industry and 1 participant representing small and medium enterprises. The proposed collaboration platform model provides six key services: project planning, partner selection, negotiation, implementation, commercialisation and evaluation.
Collection development is an integral part of library operations. While collection development of print material isa challenge, invasion of digital resources in libraries has created more challenges because of changing user behavior, budget constraints and shifts in scholarly communication. Bibliometric study on collection development provides a comprehensive understanding of the intellectual framework and the evolution of the collection development research. It helps formulating policies that are backed by facts and aids in strategic planning. Although there are adequate research studies available on collection development practices and policies, literature on systematic bibliometric analysis on collection development is limited. To address this gap a quantitative analysis including authorship patterns, geographical distribution and thematic evolution of 1706 articles published in Web of Science (WOS) indexed journals between 2018 and 2024 is conducted and examined with the help of Biblioshiny and VOSviewer to demonstrate the visualisation.The bibliometric analysis of literature on collection development (1989-2025) indicates 1706 identifiable publications with the highest rates in 1990s as well as post 2010 on the collection development literature though with a falling tendency of growth. Published patterns, by authorwise are such that single authored publications are the highest followed, and Nisonger, T.E. was the most contributing author. It is worthy to note that the U.S. authors predominantly control the output and citation and finding influential publication vehicles is included in the primary publication sources. The current trends in the subject matter consideration focus on the digital resources and the user-oriented approach rather than the traditional practice. Furthermore, this paper seems to contain a gap in the existing literature where significant factors and a publication activity with a bibliometric foundation are identified. This paper is very significant in raising early red flags in productivity in authoring and source material and at the same time defines crude ideas in this area.
The present study examines disaster management practices in university libraries in the National Capital Territory of Delhi, India, a rapidly urbanising metropolitan region exposed to multiple natural and human-induced hazards. The study mainly focused on preparedness, response mechanisms, the availability and functionality of safety equipment, challenges and future improvement needs within academic library environments. A descriptive survey method was employed and the selected university libraries were surveyed utilising a structured questionnaire comprising 41 closed-ended questions. The reliability of the instrument was confirmed using Cronbach’s alpha value of 0.8. The findings revealed that none of the libraries have formal disaster management policies, risk assessments, dedicated budgets, or collaborations with external agencies responsible for disaster preparedness and emergency response. Although basic safety provisions, such as emergency exit gates, fire safety measures such as fire extinguishers, CCTV Systems, and Fire hydrants, are in place in all libraries, there are some gaps in staff training, hazard-specific guidelines, and the regular maintenance of alarm systems. The study highlights the need for institutionalised disaster management frameworks and proposes actionable recommendations, including the formulation of comprehensive policies, allocation of dedicated financial resources and the establishment of strategic partnerships with external agencies to enhance disaster preparedness and resilience in university libraries.
This study examines the indexing of Indian Library and Information Science (LIS) journals in Scopus, focusing on their qualitative and quantitative characteristics. Since the coverage of Indian LIS journals in Scopus began in 2004, the analysis was conducted for the period from 2004 to 2024. The key performance indicators studied included SJR, CiteScore, SNIP, Quartile, Highest Percentile and h-index, which were collected from the online portals of Scopus and the Scopus-based SCImago Journal & Country Rank. Four continuously indexed journals to date-Annals of Library and Information Studies (ALIS), DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology (DJLIT), Indian Journal of Information Sources and Services (IJISS) and Journal of Scientometric Research (JSR) were analysed. Among these, ALIS and DLJIT are published by public institutions under the Diamond Open Access model. In contrast, IJISS and JSR are published by private entities following the Gold Open Access model. The results indicate that although the older, publicly funded journals (ALIS and DLJIT) have slightly higher h-index values, the newer, privately published journals (IJISS and JSR) are rapidly closing the gap, reflecting increasing competitiveness. The overall SJR and citation impact of Indian LIS journals remain significantly lower compared to leading international journals. The study emphasises the importance of concerted efforts to enhance the visibility and global standing of Indian LIS journals through enhanced editorial practices, diversification of research themes, and inclusion in major international indexing databases.
Digital Humanities (DH) is a fast-growing interdisciplinary field of research, with Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) as one of its prime components. Previous studies have examined scholarly literature on DH through both traditional bibliometrics and altmetrics, there is a scarcity of studies that investigate its citation context. This gap is significant because citation counts alone cannot reveal whether DH research is endorsed, critiqued, or merely mentioned in the corpus of scholarly literature. Understanding this dimension is essential for assessing the intellectual reception and societal relevance. Further, the level of maturity of DH research can be assessed through sectional citation analysis. The present study addresses this by applying citation context analysis to publications from top 20 Scopus-indexed HCI journals, thereby providing a nuanced understanding of how DH research is perceived within the scholarly community.The findings showed that 96.3 % of the citations were “mentioning” cites, while only0.19 % were “contrasting”, pointing to a clear absence of critical engagement. The minimal rate of “supporting” cites (1.73 %) further underscored the limited expression of explicit endorsement. Higher concentration of citations is found in the “other” section indicating the highly interdisciplinary nature of research and diversity in the structure of scholarly papers. The citations accrued in the “introduction” section reveals the strength of conceptual/theoretical framework of the discipline. The present study adds value to the existing methods of research impact assessment and works as a valuable complementary approach.
The present study offers a comprehensive bibliometric and altmetric analysis of research related to Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG-7), which focuses on affordable and clean energy. Data from the web of science core Collection (up to January 22, 2025) and Dimensions.ai were used to find the top 100 articles that explicitly mention SDG-7 and have been cited the most. Citation counts and Altmetric Attention Scores (AAS) were analysed using median and interquartile ranges due to non-normal data distribution. Results show that original research articles dominated the dataset (80 %), with a median citation count of 305 and AAS of 227. Although fewer in number, conference proceedings reported the highest median citations (839), indicating early influence in academic discourse. Using Web of Science subject categories, it is found that high-impact articles were published in fields like medicine, paediatrics, and environmental sciences. The United States led in publication count (n=33), while Switzerland had the highest average citations per article. Mendeley and Twitter were the most common platforms for online engagement. Despite a weak positive correlation (r=0.25) between citations and AAS, both metrics provided distinct insights into research impact. High-impact journals like The Lancet, Nature and Science published most of these articles, with open access, especially green and bronze access models, playing a key role in broader dissemination. This dual-metric approach underscores the importance of integrating traditional and alternative indicators to capture both academic and societal dimensions of SDG-related research.
This study aims to explore the online attention gained by publications related to patent analysis by examining the top 100 articles with the highest Altmetric Attention Score. The dimensions database was used to extract the research data, which was cleaned and analysed using Microsoft Excel, and a correlation matrix was generated using Python 3.12.6. The analysis revealed that the article “Research and Development on Therapeutic Agents and Vaccines for COVID-19 and Related Human Coronavirus Diseases” by Cynthia Liu attained the highest AAS. Mendeley and X (formerly Twitter) are the primary online sharing and discussion platforms. The chemical science field recorded an AAS of 1121, indicating heightened user interest in patent-related research. “World Patent Information” emerged as the most influential source in online reach. Furthermore, gold open-access garnered the highest online engagement, potentially due to unrestricted access. A statistical analysis reveals that AAS has a weak positive correlation with citation scores, suggesting limited overlap between social and scholarly impact. As far as we know, this is the primary study that uses an altmetric attention score to examine the online engagement of the articles in the domain of patent analysis.
This research paper aims to investigate the development of scientific research on space sustainability between 1960 and 2025 using data retrieved from the OpenAlex database. Using bibliometric methods, the study investigates yearly wise output trends, origin of research, author productivity and impact (including various indices), as well as the implication of Lotka’s law to evaluate distribution of authors. Few new research topics and trends are also identified by analysing keywords and themes. These results indicate an impressive spurt in scholarly publications since the 1990s due to growing international attention towards orbital debris, space governance and technological advancement. This analysis provides valuable insights into the intellectual structure, key contributors and collaborative dynamics shaping the field of space sustainability.
Research is a critical component of higher education and a vital source of revenue for institutions. Effectively managing research information is essential for fostering a culture of innovation, research, and academic excellence within Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). This paper focuses on the Indian Research Information Network System (IRINS), which aids in managing research information across HEIs in India. It aims to assess the system’s development, usage, and benefits in the current context. The study also discusses the system’s key features, issues, and challenges and recommends future improvements. The paper further examines the institutional component of IRINS implemented at a leading Central University in India. The research found that the system has successfully curated a huge number of researcher profiles over the past five years, integrating nearly 2.85 million publications from both open and commercial research databases. This has allowed the scientific community to effectively manage research achievements, supporting research excellence at the institutional, national, and international levels. To date, 1,329 organisations in India have adopted IRINS. By enhancing scalability, user-friendliness, interconnectivity, and collaboration, IRINS can significantly strengthen India’s research ecosystem and increase its global visibility, as the study recommends.
