Today, branding directly affects the growth process for countries, regions, and urban centers. Particularly, a successful branding process, including the framework design and establishment of regulation tools, is necessary and quite important to be able to succeed on recognize and furthermore to enhance the catch-up process, enforce competitiveness level and development. The socio-economic implications from a successful branding are more apparent using some of the main socio-economic variables, such as public investment, employability, and socio-economic regional growth. In this context, the urban and semi-urban centers must clearly define their position in the market through branding and marketing policy. This text attempts to examine the contemporary role of branding and furthermore to examine and analyze the results in the process of development for semi-urban centers in Greece.
This research focuses on sustainable consumption and production (SCP) to balance economic growth with ecological preservation. It assesses Greek consumers' attitudes, satisfaction, and knowledge about green products through questionnaires, analyzing the interplay of these factors in consumer satisfaction and highlighting the role of awareness in the green market. The study also compares these findings with Romanian consumer behavior to understand cultural and socioeconomic influences. Results show that positive attitudes towards green products and access to information significantly enhance consumer satisfaction, a trend consistent across different cultures. However, a lack of sustainability knowledge among youth presents an educational opportunity. The study advocates for strategic educational efforts to support SCP, emphasizing the need for well-informed product design, fair pricing, and clear communication to promote sustainable consumer habits, contributing to the broader SCP discourse and guiding future sustainable economy policies.

This paper examines the relationship between urbanization, economic growth, and environmental quality using environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis. The hypothesized link is tested using time-series analysis of 10 selected Asian countries over the period 1990–2018. First, the EKC hypothesis is tested through examining the relationship between EF, GDP, and URB. Further, the long-run relationship between EF, URB, and GDP is investigated using a vector error correction model. It was found that there is a cointegrated relationship between the variables in the countries China, Malaysia, and Thailand. Additionally, almost all error correction terms are correct in sign and are significant, which implies that some percentage of disequilibrium in EF in the previous year adjusts back to the long-run equilibrium in the current year. Therefore, an efficient trade-off between environmental protection and economic benefits should be taken, and EF should be reduced through changing consumption patterns, improving the efficiency of use of resources and cleaner technology choices.
Companies adopt marketing practices to delight their customers, generate revenues and profits, and to create customer relationships. However, companies may focus on their selfish motives of growth and may ignore consumer welfare and social welfare. Marketers are criticized for such practices and for the negative impact created on the society. The practices include high prices of products, deceptive practices, high pressure selling, harmful or unsafe products, planned obsolescence, poor service to disadvantaged customers, and negative impact of celebrities in marketing communications. Adverse impact on society includes false wants and materialism, too few social goods, and cultural pollution. Marketers are accused of harming and reducing competition. In the era of social marketing, companies should respect social concerns of various stakeholders and should maintain a balance between their own objective of growth and long-term social requirements. This will result in mutual trust and in sustaining the society.
Coastal fishing in the Moroccan Mediterranean plays a key role in the fishing industry's economy. This activity is an important source of jobs and income for many coastal communities in the Al Hoceima region of the north-western Mediterranean. This study aims to investigate the state of socio-economic knowledge of the fishermen of the coastal fleet in the region of Al Hoceima, using a diagnosis based on the analysis of socio-economic indicators. The data were obtained by a structured questionnaire with 90 fishermen, 30 captains, and 15 ship owners. The analysis of the data collected revealed, from a social level, a high rate of illiteracy and a low level of education among the fishermen. The economic weight and value of trawlers are significant. Despite the high commercial value of the species, the net income is not satisfactory, so the wealth produced by these fisheries does not have a real impact on the quality of life of the fishers, which does not guarantee the sustainable development of this activity.
The social dimension of sustainability has not gained as much attention in bioeconomy (BE) literature as have the environmental and economic dimensions. Thus, this study's purpose is to analyze how social sustainability of the non-timber forest-based BE enterprise in the Amazonian Forest has been leveraged. A case study was performed in the largest enterprise in Latin America that produces babassu coconut-activated carbon for industrial use. This enterprise is a benefit corporation (B Corp) certified by B lab. The main contributions of the study are: (i) proposing a framework for social sustainability that considers its drivers and elements, for both internal and external stakeholders; (ii) indicating the impact of social sustainability on enterprises' business model; (iii) pointing out the contribution of technological innovations to the circular economy and preservation of traditions and environment; and (iv) studying an under-explored object such as a B Corp in the Amazonian Forest.

Clean energy is currently a top priority on the global agenda, and green bonds have emerged as a key response from financial markets. However, while these bonds aim to reduce carbon emissions, they may create perverse incentives. Brazil has made significant investments in eolic parks in recent years, with players issuing green bonds to finance these activities. One region that has seen high levels of investment is the interior of Bahia state, which has historically had low levels of economic and social development. Unfortunately, the production of wind energy in this region has been marked by several social conflicts. Despite this, these conflicts have largely gone unnoticed, as the appeal of clean energy has overshadowed them. Social issues such as land disputes are critical but often overlooked in green finance mechanisms. In some cases, these financial incentives may incentivize land grabbing from vulnerable populations in the name of clean energy production.

Institutions such as the European Commission have committed themselves to promote corporate social responsibility (CSR) in their 2020 Strategy for Europe, being that an increasing number of companies are developing corporate volunteering (CV) as part of their CSR policy. The purpose of this paper is to study the impacts of CV implementation on three stakeholders: the company, the community, and the employees. Through a survey targeting employees with experience in CV, it was possible to conclude, generally, that the main perceived impact is increasing employee satisfaction level; that CV impacts are partially influenced by gender, the respondents' frequency in CV activities, and preferences; and, finally, that CV impacts are mainly explained in the company by self-serving purposes, in the community by the anticipation of benefits, and for employees by the social exchange, attribution, and identification psychological theories.
Sustainability has become the global need for survival in all scopes due to financial development's side effects that have resulted in environmental destruction. The world leaders have proposed green banking (GB) to reduce carbon footprints from banking operations by promoting paperless financial services based on technology. However, the customers' adoption of GB remains unsatisfactory in the UAE. This study attempts to investigate the determinants of consumers' intention adoption of GB. An exploratory sequential mixed-method approach is employed. The qualitative analysis identified six new challenges facing customers' intention adoption of GB: customer awareness, personal innovativeness, bank reputation, security and privacy, system quality, and government support. The qualitative findings are mostly confirmed by quantitative study whereby awareness, personal innovativeness, system quality, and bank reputation significantly impact customers' intention to adopt GB. The study also revealed the insignificant moderating impact of gender and age in most proposed relationships.
