
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of synthesized drug OUTBREAK, an Ayurvedic formulation for fever of viral origin in mild and moderate COVID19 positive patients. This is the prospective, randomized, multicentre, open label, parallel group interventional clinical endpoint study. Patients coming for the general outpatient department, were screened for viral fever by using the hematological, Biochemical and microbiological antibody assays. One Hundred patients who satisfied the selection criteria were enrolled in the study. Participants were randomized into 2 groups with 50 patients in each group. Patients were given standard treatment. In addition, Tab. OUTBREAK of Bageo Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., was administered to test groups. There is a highly significant improvement (P<0.001) in the subjects temperature, fever score, headache and SpO2 suggesting a good Analgesic and antipyretic activity of OUTBREAK. There is asignificant improvement in platelet count in the OUTBREAK treated group (P<0.01) when compared to the control group, proving its efficacy intreating thrombocytopenia. The improvement (P<0.01) in the random Sugar level in the OUTBREAK treated group depicts the anti-diabetic property of OUTBREAK.The improvement (P<0.01) in the WBC count in the OUTBREAK treated group depicts the antiviral property of OUTBREAK. The overall quality of life was better in OUTBREAK treated group compared to the control group. There were no serious adverse events reported. OUTBREAK is safe and efficacious in reversing thrombocytopenia and thus normalizing the platelet counts and relieving the clinical signs and symptoms (fever, headache and SpO2) of viral fever associated with thrombocytopenia and other cases of viral fever without thrombocytopenia. OUTBREAK is having good anti-viral, anti-pyretic and immuno-modulatory property.
Introduction: The infection caused by COVID-19 ranges from mild to moderate infection, but it can also cause severe infection and death in some people mostly in people who are old, or immunocompromisedSARS-CoV-2 has shown evidence of having higher capacity of binding to human cells and can settle in upper and lower portion of the respiratory tract it being the two important hotspots. Symptoms localized to the upper respiratory tract are mild which usually includes anosmia/hyposmia, ageusia/ dysgeusia, rhinitis along with sore throat. Material and methods: This study included individuals who were diagnosed with COVID-19 having mild symptoms of the disease which could be managed at their homes.Random assignment (50/50 chance) of subjects was done into two groups (A and B) for this study. Participants in group A were asked to perform the nasal washing and gargling with salt water up to 10 times a day for 14 days or until they felt better.Results:The leading cause for hospitalization for 15 (53.57%) people was that the oxygen saturation fell to below 93. Some scores compared between the two groups showed significant results in parameters of headache, postnasal drip, anosmia, sinusitis, sore throat, body ache, dry cough by unpaired two tailed P test. The age groups of 26 to 35, and 56 to 65 had comparatively higher values of adherence as compared to different age groups.Conclusion:The study demonstrates the hypothesis that nasal irrigation and saline gargling can have promising results to reduce the severity of COVID-19 infection when initiated within 24 hours of a positive test.
Purpose: To determine the level of evidence for exercise based rehabilitation and its effect on gait and turning performance which have been associated with a reduced incidence of falls. Methods and analysis: The following databases were searched systematically: Cochrane Library, Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro), Scopus, Web of Science and PubMed. Articles comparing the effects of exercise-based treatment as an experimental intervention with a non-physiotherapy intervention as the control were described using the synthesis method. Results: Twelve out of the twenty-seven studies eligible for inclusion focussed explicitly on exercise-based treatment for gait and turning related to falls prevention in individuals with PD. Studies included specific exercise programmes relevant to locomotion performance, Tai Chi and dance therapy which have all been shown to improve temporal, spatial and kinematic parameters in gait and turning, leading to improvements in fall parameters. Conclusion: This review evinces that Tai Chi, dance therapy and specific exercise programmes can result in improvements in turning performance and may reduce the likelihood of falls in individuals with PD, however further research is required to explore the relationship between the benefits of exercise-based interventions on functional mobility and falls incidence.

The present study shows that the level of (RBC) Red Blood Cells and (WBC) White Blood Cells were significantly decreased. This study showed a significant decrease (P <0.05) in Total Cholesterol and Total Serum Protein and significantly increased Serum Creatinine and Total Blood Urea due to Cadmium exposure. It is concluded from the experimental study that cadmium toxicity increases hematological parameters and biochemical parameters in Swiss albino mice.

This can be attributed to the misleading marketing of harmful skin bleaching agents under the name of skin brighteners, skin toners, or dark spot removal creams that are readily available. In an effort to find a safer alternative to hydroquinone and other harmful skin lighteners, extensive research culminated in the discovery of α -arbutin. It acts by inhibiting tyrosinase activity and melanosome maturation. It is one of the most popular skin lightening ingredients in the world at present and has been used in the treatment of many hyperpigmentation disorders. α -arbutin has a high market value due to its wide applicability in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. In this review, we have discussed the physiochemical properties of α -arbutin and safety profile, its mechanism of action, recent advances in the delivery of α -arbutin for skin lightening, various combination treatments, and current market status. This literature review presents a futuristic scope of α -arbutin as a safer alternative to other harmful skin lightening agents.

Background: The severe acute respiratory distress syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic has caused many infections with numerous deaths worldwide. Still, the number of infected cases with deaths is escalating day by day. Alternative medicine (AMs) viz., Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani, yoga, Herbal medicine, are being promoted for the prevention of COVID-19. Complementary and Alternative Medicines (CAM) are gaining rapid acceptance among individuals. Therefore, the aim was to study the pattern of CAM use for prophylaxis of COVID-19. Methods: A survey was conducted amongst 456 individuals to assess the use of various CAM modalities for the prevention of COVID-19. Respondents who gave consent were assessed by a pre-structured questionnaire. Results: Out of 456 respondents enrolled in the study, the use of CAM was almost equal in both males (49.34%) and Females (50.65%). Homeopathy (30.48%) was the most common type of CAM used, and Ayurveda was used by 22.80% of respondents. Social media was used by 44.51%, and Official govt. Web sites were least used (20.61%). The most common reason for using CAM was to buildup immunity (21.05%) . 92.98% and 91.22% of CAM users have shown improvement in overall well-being, and stress reduction respectively, but results were not statistically significant. Conclusions: High percentage of the participant’s demonstrated awareness towards most of the CAM modalities. They considered using multiple CAM modalities in the prevention of Covid-19 but consultation with qualified CAM health care professionals should be advocated.

Background Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been designated a worldwide public health emergency, impacting individuals all over the world. Objectives The goal of this study was to evaluate health care workers Awareness, Attitudes and Practices (KAP) regarding the 2019 Coronavirus Disease (COVID-2019) pandemic in Kerala. Methods A cross-sectional study was carried out among health care workers (n=388) in Kerala over 6 months. The questionnaire was divided into 5 parts, part 1demographic information, and next 3 parts evaluated knowledge (10 questions), attitude, (10 questions) and practice (9 questions). Part 5 obtained access to health care workers' mental well-being. The data was subjected to Chi-square analysis and Pearson’s correlation;95% confidence interval (CI) was calculated and p<0.05 was recognised statistically significant. Results A total of 388 HCWs (response rate: 88.78 %) completed the survey out of 437 participants;72 % (n=1279) were female, 40.46 % (n=157) were aged 31-40 years, and most were nurses (n=258, 66.49 %). A large percentage of HCWs had strong Knowledge, positive Attitude and good Practice towards COVID-19. Participants Demographics were not correlated with knowledge attitude and practice level towards Covid-19 but Pearson analysis indicated that there is a positive correlation between knowledge and attitude (p=0.016). Conclusions. The HCW’s of Kerala have excellent Knowledge, Attitude and Practice towards COVID-19. It is suggest that government and Health Care department should conduct regular seminars and practice sessions regarding COVID-19 which would empower the HCW’s against COVID-19.
The pandemic of COVID 19 caused by the novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) presents an extraordinary challenge to health care system across the globe. COVID 19 is highly contagious disease with an incubation period of 2 to 14 days and causes respiratory infection including fever, cough, sore throat, malaise, breathlessness among others. The clinical features vary from mild in most people to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and multi organ dysfunction. Most people are asymptomatic and person with co-morbidities and low immunity are more vulnerable. Treatment is essentially supportive with no proven effective therapeutic agent and worldwide there is quest to develop vaccine against virus. With no concrete evidence based therapeutic options for prevention and treatment of patients, one strategy is to boost the immunity of individual. The ancient classical textbooks of Ayurveda, Charaksamhita and Susrutasamhita refers to epidemics, delineate its pathogenesis and measures required for its management. The traditional medicines such as in Ayurveda can help patients to fight against virus by modulating the immunity of a person. This review highlights important clinical features of COVID-19, treatment strategies and options, and role of ayurveda in its management.
The COVID-19 (SARS-Cov-2) pandemic has emerged in Wuhan city, China and spread globally. Despite Government lockdown process in India the number of infected people increases day by day. The only way to curb this pandemic is vaccination but still people are reluctant to receive COVID-19 vaccine. Hence online survey-based study was conducted to know Indians perception towards vaccination and reason behind their hesitancy. The online questionnaire in Google form has been circulated among people through Email and WhatsApp. 272 responses were included for analysis. The collected data were analysed by SPSS version 26 using t test and ANOVA by considering p value of less than 0.05 as significant. The study reveals that among participants 60% have good knowledge about COVID-19 and major source of information received from News (n=140), Social media (n=131) and Government website (n=101). The 58.8% among participants are willing to take vaccine and major reason behind hesitancy towards vaccine is side effect and safety concern. Focused intervention programmes and awareness campaign development will be essential by utilising social media and news channels. Govt. official needed to release newsletter through their website about safety and efficacy of vaccine to remove hesitancy among people.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) shall be defined as the illness caused by a novel strain of coronavirus referred to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), that was initially identified among an outburst of respiratory illness in Wuhan City of China. Lacuna in control measures, in addition to the rapid morbidity and mortality rate made the researchers worldwide to quench in thirst of appropriate control measures to fight against this deadliest disease. WHO declared this as a global health emergency. At present none of the drugs or biological agents were available to combat the COVID-19. In the meanwhile, several antiviral agents, vaccines and immunotherapies were being investigated and under developmental clinical trial s to enforce as a potential therapy. It’s not an easy task to find out an applicable therapeutic agent to compete COVID-19 infection. The imperative need for treatment measures under such pandemic conditions probably complicate the elucidation and confirmation of possible outcomes even if the clinical trial data are applicably collected, documented, recorded and controlled. At this juncture, it is quite surprising that the Quinine derivatives were already proven and widely being administered owing to its anti-viral activity specifically against the malarial infections and most coronaviruses, including SARS-CoV-1, has harbored the attention of research community. Even several studies were ongoing to find out the efficacy of this well-worn drug against the COVID-19. This review article was focused on the constructive uses of Quinine derivatives to combat the life-threatening disease.

Persistent proteinuria in children is a silent killer as it potentially of being progressive severity of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Monoclonal antibodies are currently recommended for the treatment of this disease. In some developing and low socioeconomic countries, the aforementioned agents are nearly impossible to be given. Also, the COVID-19 disease has a huge impact in all countries in the world, including in nephrology and other immunocompromized patients in children. The problems caused by this disease are also exacerbated by the economic conditions of poor and developing countries. It is challenging for clinicians in poor and developing countries to take advantage of alternative modalities for the management of the disease. Therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) is a very useful modality for the management of diseases that require clearance of proteins with a certain molecular weight. Diseases that require TPE in pediatric nephrology field is glomerular disease either related to autoimmune diseases or not. Evidence about the success of COVID-19 treatment with TPE has also been widely reported by researchers in various parts of the world. This article aims to analyze in detail the benefits of TPE in overcoming this pandemic, as well as knowing the very appropriate timing for plasmapheresis in this disease.
