
Technological innovation has a significant impact on the performance of enterprises, but current research on technological innovation investment tends to focus on high-end industries, lacking empirical research in the field of agricultural and sideline food processing. There are significant differences in the internal production models of agricultural and sideline food processing enterprises. This article conducts a classified study of the agricultural and sideline food processing industry based on production models, using panel models to explore the impact of exploratory technological innovation and exploitative technological innovation on the economic added value, solvency, profitability, and development capabilities of enterprises. The following research conclusions are drawn: overall, exploratory technological innovation in agricultural and sideline food processing enterprises negatively affects the solvency of enterprises, positively affects the profitability and development capabilities of enterprises, and negatively affects the economic added value of enterprises. However, in the subcategories of agricultural and sideline food processing industries, the performance of feed, breeding, slaughtering, and meat processing enterprises is consistent with the overall performance of the agricultural and sideline food processing industry; there is no exploitative innovation investment in the prefabricated food and snack food enterprises, and exploratory technological innovation negatively affects the performance of enterprises; in the grain and oil and grain processing enterprises, exploratory technological innovation negatively affects the performance of enterprises, and exploitative technological innovation has a negative impact on the economic added value of enterprises; in the sugar and biological additive enterprises, exploratory technological innovation has a positive impact on the economic added value of enterprises. This study enriches the research on dual innovation while providing some reference for adjusting innovation directions in the subcategories of the agricultural and sideline food processing industry and for scientific allocation of innovation investment amounts by agricultural and sideline food processing enterprises.
The objective of this study is to analyze the value relevance of accounting information on net profit and operating cash flow in the pricing of shares of companies in the agribusiness sector that have biological assets, in addition to assessing the impact of CPC revision No. 08. Data collected from Econom & aacute;tica (R) and the IR websites of Brazilian agricultural companies listed in (B) from 2013 to 2020, covering the year in which CPC revision No. 08 came into effect, were used. The analysis was performed using regression with panel data and random effects, using STATA (R) software. The results indicated that, despite presenting positive coefficients, net profit and operating cash flow were not relevant to explain the share price in the sample investigated. On the other hand, biological assets proved to be value relevant to the market in the formation of the share price. Furthermore, the aforementioned review did not present statistical significance and was considered not value relevant. Finally, the study contributes to the national literature by offering insights into the relevance of accounting information in the agricultural sector and assists users of this information in assessing the performance of publicly traded companies, as well as accounting regulatory bodies
The aim of this paper is to examine the value relevance of analytical indicators based on financial reports of companies operating in European markets within the agricultural sector. The paper will conduct a series of regression analyses where company multiples will be set dependent variables, and selected accounting indicators will be set as independent variables. The models explore the impact of changes in growth, risk, and profitability indicators on changes in the value of companies expressed through commonly known value multiples such as P/E, P/B, EV/EBITDA, and EV/EBIT. The research results indicate that changes in sales revenue growth and leverage significantly influence changes in the value of all multiples the model, while profitability indicators such as ROA, ROE, and profit margin have significant impact on some specific multiples. Research is significant for all stakeholders who want to learn about the value of the company and the factors that influence its movement. Especially for participants in the financial markets focused on investments in the agricultural sector.
The aim of this study is to reveal the economic analysis of almond producing enterprises, and to make suggestions for the problems encountered in almond production. The primary data of the research were obtained by face-to-face interviews with 96 businesses producing almonds in the Besni region of the Adiyaman province during the 2020-2021 production period. The single product budget analysis was used to determine the cost and profitability of almond production in the examined enterprises. According to the research results; the average land width of the almond enterprises was determined as 71.70 da, the average tree age was 7.77 years, the average almond seed yield was 144.44 kg/da, and the average almond yield was 301.55 g. The production cost of 1 kg of almonds was 20.49 Turkish Lira (TL), the average sale price of almonds was 18.05 TL, and the profit margin of 1 kg of almonds was -2.44 TL. Gross production value was calculated as 3909.89 TL, gross profit as 2952.56 TL, absolute profit as 950.85 TL, and relative profit as 1.32. It was observed that, the number of trees that do not bear fruit and the number of plantations that have not reached productivity, negatively affect the profit margins of the producers.
The aim of this study is to identify the most appropriate indicators and analyze the economic and financial viability of apiculture on a rural property in Nova Andradina-MS. Methodologically, the research was based on a case study, with a descriptive analysis of a quantitative nature. The results show revenue of R$20.00 per kilo of honey sold, with the average cost varying between R$6.67 and R$6.06 per kilo, generating a net margin of 54.40% at low productivity or 59.87% at high productivity, with a net profit of R$10.88 and R$11.97, respectively. Among the main costs of honey production, depreciation, packaging and transportation of hives were observed. The investment analysis shows that the payback for low production is 1 year, 5 months and 15 days, and for high production it is 1 year and 25 days, demonstrating the economic and financial viability of apiculture on the rural property studied. Among the financial, technical and decision-making indicators observed by the Topsis multi-criteria methodology, the production cost, economic-financial return and cash flow indicators were identified as the most appropriate for analyzing the performance of apiculture. In general, the importance of accounting as a tool to support the management of rural enterprises, to improve processes, to identify costs and to analyze the results of activities carried out in rural areas is highlighted. Furthermore, the results presented regarding the economic and financial viability of apiculture are important to assist managers in analyzing decisions about future investments.
Digital Finance Inclusive (DFI) represents big data and agriculture-friendly finance development. Agricultural Green Total Factor Productivity (AGTFP) describes the development of a green economy and agricultural modernization. This paper used the Slack Based Measure (SBM) model to calculate AGTFP based on Chinese provincial data from 2011 to 2022. At the same time, with the help of the Mediating Effect Model and the Spatial Durbin Model (SDM), tested the influence of DFI on AGTFP. The main research conclusions include: (1) DFI, the coverage breadth of digital financial inclusion (DIFB), and the degree of digitization (DIG) can significantly improve AGTFP. (2) The intermediary effect model proves that DFI can increase AGTFP by improving agricultural industrialization and technological innovation. (3) The heterogeneity test found that the DFI of the provinces in the central and western regions has a more substantial promotion effect on AGTFP. (4) SDM found that AGTFP and DFI have a positive spillover spatial effect. In addition, DFI can significantly increase the local AGTFP and reduce the AGTFP in the surrounding area. The research results will help to enrich the relevant research on the application of DFI to AGTFP and provide empirical evidence for better implementation of rural revitalization and construction of a beautiful China.
This study aimed to clarify the importance of using blockchain in the supply chain sector and test the impact of blockchain technology characteristics on improving supply chain performance by applying it to industrial companies in Saudi Arabia. To achieve this end, the study depended on the inductive approach to prepare the theoretical framework for the study by extrapolating the relevant Arab and foreign scientific studies and research to study and analyze all that is mentioned in the accounting thought about four blockchain characteristics and the impact in improving supply chain performance. It also used the deductive approach, which depends on logical thinking to attempt a logical connection of the relationship between the characteristics of blockchain technology and the performance of supply chains. The statistical approach to conducting the field study with the aim of identifying the trends and opinions of faculty members in the Accounting Department in Saudi universities, accountants in Saudi industrial companies, and information and communications technology experts working in the field of blockchains and the supply chain The sample size was (150) individuals from 2012 until August 2023 to test the impact of the blockchains characteristics on improving the supply chain performance in the Saudi environment. Processing and analyzing study data and conducting statistical tests using the statistical program IBM SPSS Version 29. The study concluded that the importance of using Blockchain technology in improving supply chain performance in Saudi industrial companies, and the presence of a statistically significant effect of the four characteristics of blockchains (transparency and privacy, decentralization, traceability, smart contracts), and the supply chain performance in Saudi industrial companies. The study recommends the following conducting future research in the field of the relationship of Blockchain technology to corporate governance, studying the tax problems of Blockchain operations, and training accountants and workers in industrial companies to deal with Blockchain in a way that is appropriate to their job tasks for improving the supply chain performance and the competitive position of business organizations. Most previous studies have focused on different characteristics of blockchain technology; the present study is the first to focus on four characteristics (Transparency and privacy, Decentralization, Traceability, and Smart Contracts) and examine the relationship between them and the performance of supply chains from the point of view of accounting thought in Saudi industrial companies.
According to FAO data for the year 2021, world paddy production areas have been calculated as 165 million ha and the production amount as 787 million tons. According to TSI data for 2022, the paddy production area in Turkiye has been determined as 120,511 ha and the production amount as 950,000 tons. Turkiye's self-sufficiency rate in rice is around 80%. Turkiye has a share of 5.71% in world paddy imports. & Ccedil;anakkale province ranks 4th with 10% of paddy cultivation areas and 10.21% of production throughout the country. The average paddy yield in the province is 805.50 kg da-1, which is above the country's yield value (788.31 kg da-1). In the examined enterprises, it has been found out that 25.13 kg da-1 of pure nitrogen, 7.52 kg da-1 of pure phosphorus and 5.37 kg da-1 of pure potassium fertilizer are used per unit area in paddy production. In the study, the effect of chemical fertilizer factor on the amount of paddy production has been examined with the help of the production function. Coefficients of elasticity in the rice production estimation function have been determined as; pure nitrogen (X1) 0.639, pure phosphorus (X2) 0.140 and pure potassium (X3) 0.220. Pure nitrogen (X1) and pure potassium (X3) have been found to be statistically significant at the level of 1% and 5% respectively. It has been concluded that the sum of the coefficients of the production elasticity of the estimation equation (& sum;beta i 0,999) expresses the constant return to the scale. Among the factors included in the equation, the variable with the highest marginal efficiency coefficient has been found to be pure potassium (X3). In the study, it has been determined that pure nitrogen, pure phosphorus and pure potassium fertilizers are being used below the economic optimum level in paddy production. In other words, the results of the research revealed that the fertilizer factor is not used rationally in paddy production and in this case, it causes a loss of yield and therefore loss of income for the producer.
Effective supply chain risk management is crucial for the success of agro-industrial firms, as it enables them to navigate the complex and dynamic challenges inherent in the agricultural sector. This study examines the determinants of supply chain risk management and performance in agro-industrial firms in Africa using partial least square structural equation modeling to analyze data from a sample of 367 supply chain managers. The findings show that operational risk management does not have a positive impact on the performance of supply chain, but strategic risk management does. Customer relationship also has a positive impact on the performance of supply chain. Also, the results indicate that supply chain risk management constructs (operational risk management and strategic risk management) positively affects customer relationship. The results suggest that agro-industrial firms in Africa should focus on developing strategic risk management capabilities in order to improve their performance and customer relationships. In addition operational risk management and strategic risk management are also important for agro-industrial firms in Africa, as they may face more strategic risks, such as political instability and economic shocks. The findings have important implications for managers, policymakers, practitioners, and researchers. From a managerial perspective, managers must form alliances with logistics service providers to divest themselves of services like transportation where they lack essential competencies. The study's conclusions may also be helpful to other service sectors, organizations and managers in emerging nations to take into account potential risks and mitigate them with managerial strategies and assist in lowering the risk occur within the organization. Also, the findings suggest that researchers should conduct further research on the role of strategic risk management in agro-industrial firms in Africa, particularly in the context of new and emerging risks. The findings offer practical guidance for managers seeking to enhance their firm's supply chain risk management capabilities.
This paper aims to explore the influence of intellectual capital and financial factors on firms' competitiveness in food and beverage industry with considering the impacts of the COVID crisis. The value added intellectual coefficient method is employed to measure intellectual capital with using the ordinary least squares as the regression model. The results show the positive effects of intellectual capital factors on profitability no matter whether it is in the COVID crisis. In addition, the positive effects of intellectual capital efficiency and human capital efficiency tend to increase in the COVID crisis. Intellectual capital factors are nonsignificant in the models for market share. Capital employed efficiency that represents the efficiency of physical and financial capital is significant in both the models for profitability and market share. Regarding financial factors, their impacts are clearly observed on both profitability and market share. Therefore, the findings suggest that: for the firms in food and beverage industry as typically low-technology manufacturing sectors, intellectual capital factors influence competitiveness from the perspective of profitability instead of market share, whereas physical and financial capital as well as financial factors impact on competitiveness from the angles of both profitability and market share. This paper contributes to the empirical studies of competitiveness from firm level and differentiates the impacts of intellectual capital factors and financial factors on the competitiveness of the firms in food and beverage industry as a stabilizer for economy during the recent COVID crisis.
This paper presents research results of the impact of quality of biological assets and properties disclosure on agricultural company`s performance. The research is based on the regression analysis and on the sample of 186 observations of financial statements of agricultural companies in the Republic of Serbia during the 2020-2021 period. The performance of companies as a dependent variable was measured based on the return on assets (ROA), while the following was set as independent variables: size, current ratio, leverage, growth, quality of biological assets reporting, quality of properties reporting and quality of investment properties reporting. The results indicate that size, growth, quality of biological assets reporting and the quality of properties reporting have an significant impact on ROA. The quality of biological assets and properties reporting has a positive significant impact on ROA, which indicates that the higher quality of biological assets and properties reporting lead to a better performance of agricultural companies. The research results show the profile of agricultural companies especially from the aspect of the relation between financial reporting quality and business performance. These findings can be useful for various users such as management of agricultural companies, accountants, owners, potential investors etc. for the purpose of decision making.
Turkey is one of the most prominent tomato producing countries in the world. Tomatoes are in fourth place in the ranking of countries in terms of production area and in third place in terms of quantity of production. According to data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations for 2020, Turkey provides 3.60% of the tomato production area worldwide and 7.07% of its production. In this study, it has been aimed to determine the resource use effectiveness of the factors applied in table tomato production in Canakkale province, which is one of the most significant tomato production centers. The data used in the research have been obtained by applying a face-to-face survey from 99 agricultural enterprises identified by the Stratified Sampling Method. Determination coefficient of the estimation equation of table tomato production created with the help of Cobb-Douglas type function is 0.912 and this value has been found significant at a 1% significance level. In the study, the sum of elasticity coefficients of production factors included in the estimation equation prepared for tomato production has been calculated as 0.96. The calculated value indicates that in the production of table tomatoes, there seems to be a reduced return to the scale. The presence of autocorrelation of the equation has been tested by the "Durbin Watson Test". The Durbin Watson test statistic has been found as 1.914, and there seems no autocorrelation between the variables. When the production elasticity coefficients belonging to the arguments, which are included in the equation, have been examined; machine tensile strength and fuel consumption quantity variables have been found to be negative marked. In the estimation equation, seedling number of 1%, machine traction and labor factors have been found to be significant at the level of probability of production elasticity coefficients of 10%. When we consider the marginal efficiency coefficients of inputs used in table tomato production, it is seen that pure fertilizer (13.08), labor force (9.59) and number of seedlings (4.84) factors were found to be used below the economic optimum level, and the amount of use of specified inputs per unit area need to be increased. The marginal coefficient of effectiveness of the agricultural pest control drug used in tomato production is less than 1, and it has been recommended to reduce the use of this input. Other variables included in the estimation equation such as marginal efficiency coefficients related to machine traction power and diesel quantity are negatively marked and these inputs are used in the irrational region in tomato production. The study has revealed that production factors are not used effectively in the production of table tomatoes, which negatively affect the producer's income.
Peanut is an important oil crop in our country, its planting has typical labor-intensive characteristics. The impact of rising labor cost on the peanut planting scale is related to the security of the oil supply. The survey data of 596 peanut farmers in 17 provinces are used for this paper, it attempts to follow the logic line of "rising labor cost- labor reallocation- peanut planting scale", and analyzes the influence of rising labor cost on the decision of farmers' peanut planting scale with different operating scales from two dimensions of adjustment intention and adjustment scale of peanut planting area. The results show that the direction of farmers' peanut planting intention adjustment with different operation scales has significant differences under the rising labor cost. Large-scale farmers tend to increase the scale of peanut planting to reduce unit pro-duction costs and obtain returns to scale; in contrast, smallscale farmers tend to maintain or reduce the scale of peanut farming to generate off-farm income or increase labor productivity. Further research shows that the impact of rising labor cost on the expected adjustment scale of farmers with different operating scales shows obvious nonlinear characteristics. There is a U-shaped relationship between rising labor cost and planting scale that tends to expand of large-scale farmers, and there is an inverted Ushaped relationship between rising labor cost and planting scale that tends to shrink of smallscale farmers. The conclusion is still robust after using the Instrumental Variable method and Heckman two-step method to overcome endogenous problems. In general, rising labor cost force farmers to redeploy family labor resources, leading to the polarization of peanut planting scale between small farmers and scale farmers, to realize the optimal allocation of labor and land factors. Accordingly, this paper puts forward some policy suggestions that guide land transfer orderly, expand non-agricultural employment channels, strengthen the organic connection between small-scale farmers and new types of agricultural businesses, and consolidate the achievements of scale management.
Turkiye, which ranks 7th in the world cotton production, is unable to meet domestic demand for cotton, with this production, although it meets 3.1% of the total cotton production. The aim of this research is to determine the physical production inputs, cost and profitability of cotton production and to reveal the importance of agricultural supports for the sustainability of cotton production. The data of the research were obtained from the questionnaires of 657 cotton producers in 5 provinces where cotton production is intensive in T & uuml;rkiye. One crop budget analysis was used to analyse the data. According to the findings, producers obtained an average yield of 5124.20 kg/ha on an average area of 19.66 ha. Gross profit per hectare is 25217.2 TL. The average profit margin is 1.53 TL/kg and 1.30 TL profit is obtained for 1 TL cost in cotton production. Without agricultural subsidies, this profit decreases to 1.17 TL. When agricultural supports are not taken into account, Gross Production Value (GPV) decreases by 11.45%. This reveals the importance of agricultural supports in cotton production. T & uuml;rkiye is a foreign-dependent country in cotton and a significant portion of its cotton need is met by imports. All policies to increase the cultivation area of the cotton plant, which is of strategic importance for the country, will be applicable as long as producers make profit. In this respect, production will be sustainable when the continuity of agricultural supports given to cotton is in question.
