
En sectores competitivos como el alimenticio, resulta indispensable contar con procesos que permitan mantener y conquistar nuevos mercados. En este contexto, reviste especial importancia el desarrollo de productos, un proceso orientado a generar nuevos productos, o modificar existentes. La vision de procesos implica identificar y mejorar los procesos de la empresa, en este caso el Proceso de Desarrollo de Productos (PDP), incrementando lo que se denomina Nivel de Madurez, que consiste fundamentalmente en la aplicacion de mejores practicas. Resulta, entonces, esencial conocer primero como se lleva adelante este proceso en las organizaciones. El presente trabajo diagnostica la situacion actual del PDP en empresas productoras de alimentos del Gran Santa Fe, pertenecientes a tres sectores de actividad: lacteo, insumos y frigorifico. Para ello, se construyeron variables y categorias de analisis, se entrevistaron 17 firmas y, a partir de la informacion obtenida, se relacionaron las empresas con los tres Niveles de Madurez propuestos. Entre las principales conclusiones, se observa que las empresas entrevistadas presentan notorias diferencias en la gestion del PDP: un grupo realiza el proceso de forma intuitiva y con baja sistematizacion; otro grupo presenta mayor estabilidad y comienza a concebir el PDP como un proceso de negocio y, finalmente, empresas que presentan el PDP estandarizado. Ello valida la categorizacion de Niveles de Madurez propuesta (Basico, Intermedio y Avanzado). Finalmente, el analisis indica que las empresas lacteas y de insumos presentan mayor Nivel de Madurez del PDP, mientras que la mayoria de las frigorificas se encuentran en un Nivel Basico.
This article approaches the use of good practices in risk management in research and development projects at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA). Investment in R&D is crucial to a country's growth. In this context, this work makes an investigation in the biggest university in the north of Brazil under aspects of the current scenario of the management of science and technology projects, and how the risks are treated it. The research approach is qualitative, the method is exploratory and the procedures categorized as field research. The results diverge from the expectation generated by the bibliographic study, regarding the impacts of failure on risk management in project success indicators (time, cost and requirements), raising discussions and opening new study possibilities. The present work concluded that risk management is extremely important to deal with unknown uncertainties and variables; however, its applicability in research and development projects requires a more profound study, which makes it possible to determine insightful key points for effective management.
The amount of data generated in a technicism society can have a powerful effect on people's lives, and often this happens discreetly. Health 4.0, derived from an overflow of Industry 4.0 technology, aims to present a computational solution that assists in the screening process of a hospital, together with the raising of its requirements, contributing with medical information collected daily aiming at people's well-being. The method used was a single case study for the construction of a computational solution. The result is a totem that assists in the hospital screening process, presenting the most appropriate specialty for a patient when arriving at a hospital based on an indication of their illness, medical history and available specialties. The contribution to the practice is the presentation of a model that can serve for managers who need primary care solutions to establish the specialist that the patient should be directed to. The theoretical contribution is to demonstrate new applications for Health 4.0 concepts.
The revolution of Health 4.0 can generate great impact on the lives of elderly people with the use of intensive technologies in health care and in the proposal to assist in welfare, besides enabling a set of information, allowing analysis and access to historical status of the assisted person. This work aims to define the needs of the group of people assisted by the elderly and propose a computational solution that enables the monitoring and monitoring of distance and decisionmaking autonomous. The research has a qualitative nature and used the Design Science Research methodology with data collection of document compilations and information related to the theme. The result was the prototyping of an appliance that uses devices interconnected to sensors based on the Health 4.0. The contribution to the practice is to present a solution that can be applied in the health area Homecare with Health 4.0. In theory contribute to new research in the field of health.
This article presents the results of the study of project management activities in R & D research teams at the Faculty of Engineering of the National University of Mar del Plata. It was made to 53 researchers with responsibilities for the management of R & D, teaching, transfer and others. In particular, the survey addresses the occupation in the workday that they regularly develop for these activities. The objective is to assess the occupation of this group in the R + D project management activity. In this sense, it was established that researchers carry out project management activities on a permanent basis during all the months of the year. It was established for the whole sample that the distribution of the weekly workload was on average 24% for teaching, 47% for research, and 15% for project management. From the valuation of the percentage dedicated to project management in terms of the other activities it was observed that it represents 32% of the time devoted to research. In this way, there is a significant margin of increase in research occupation at the expense of a lower occupation of researchers in project management activities.
This work consists of a brief analysis of the reverse logistics structure of waste tires, considering a limited scenario. Thus, the research is characterized as a case study, based on information collected by the authors. A facility location tool was used to suggest a location for the company that will receive the waste. To complement the research, an economic feasibility study was presented to justify the choice of alternatives presented. Regarding the results obtained, the authors point out that it is only a suggestion of improvement of the reverse logistics network of the studied waste, considering the possibility of new studies, based on other variables to identify the variations of the results. It is important to inform that, in the case of data collection in a company, it is considered a limitation of the work the amount of information made available for carrying out the analyzes. However, it is suggested new research considering also other regions and other residues thus changing the segments and contributing to the academy
This study aims to investigate the project´s selection and prioritization within the project portfolio and to compare the results obtained in the analysis of the public sector and the private sector. The methodological approach was a systematic review of the literature. The analysis was made using the ISI Web of Science and Scopus databases, a search for each sector was used. The result was separated in seven criteria´s classes for each sector: "External Environment / Stakeholders", "Project Components", "Strategy", "Financial", "Internal Processes", "Risks" and "Social and Environmental". The results were grouped in tables showing the distribution of the criteria by authors. The analysis showed that the private sector´s main focus was on the Financial and Strategy class and the public sector has a main focus on Social and Environment criteria´s class.
The aggressive process of globalization and consequent technological intensity has important effects in commercial relations between parties. The industrial economy valued vertical integration. But the knowledge economy stimulates and values the formation of intrinsic and extrinsic interorganizational alliances. Consequently, it encourages technological skills and incubator development. In this context, the objective of the study is to evaluate the technological competencies (by use the SECI to knowledge conversion) present in the technological incubators. The data were identified and analyzed by Fuzzy Delphi method (FDelphi) and Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP). The FDelphi was serve to raise and validate the critical criteria (criteria/sub criteria) to evaluate as technological competencies in technological incubators. The FAHP method was be used to calculate the relative weights of the selected criteria/sub criteria that affect the problem in question. This proposal aims to improve the competitiveness of technology incubators by assessing technical skills and disseminating knowledge.
The creation of the InfoTeam computerization project in the Department of Technology of Faculty 3, at the University of Computer Science, opened the doors to improve the processes that are developed in that area. These have the responsibility of physically controlling all the fixed assets that the different subordinate areas have. To achieve this, they set themselves the task of developing a web application that computerized the processes. The solution allows establishing the bases for greater control and security over the processes, thus reducing costs and reducing the time in which the activities performed. Allowing the managers of this area to have a high control over all means, giving the possibility, in addition, to know the status of the incidents and the reports generated for each asset. For the investigation, the empirical methods of interview, experimental method and method of scientific observation were used; on the other hand, the theoretical methods were used: inductive-deductive, analytical-synthetic and modeling.
Performance evaluation in higher education has grown significantly in recent years. The aim of this article is to present the research data on the theme. To do this, a bibliometric study was carried out and then the amount of citations of 799 publications on the evaluation of performance in higher education published between 1977 and 2017 was analyzed. The results showed that the research on the subject was developed from two perspectives. The first, a quantitative one, sought to calculate the efficiency of higher education. The second perspective, in general, discussed the quality of higher education mainly through students' perceptions.
Events are events that are present in society and more and more grow their repercussion, size and financial resources involved. In this context, the need to identify risks so that they can be mitigated by managers is increasingly needed. The goal is to identify risks in event projects from area professionals, researchers and students. The research has qualitative nature, use of the Multiple Case Study methodology, collection through interviews, semi-structured questionnaire and bibliographic research. The result was the identification of 39 risks in event projects, being the lack of engagement and failure in the management of events the most mentioned risks. The contribution to the theory lies in a list of risks to be researched, especially its origins and suggestions for mitigation. The practical contribution is that managers can include in their risk management the items identified in this research.
At present there are few studies about the influence of organizational culture on project success. The majority has its focus in the Information Technology sector. The objective of this case study was to determine the impact of organizational culture on the effectiveness of project management in a company of the pharmaceutical sector Quantitative research was carried out by applying a survey to a sample of 66 project stakeholders. The data was collected between July and November 2018. The results showed that leaders and team members value the contribution of the projects to the achievement of the strategy, although it is necessary to promote the adoption of practices to manage the projects and the participation of the stakeholders. Increasing the level of team satisfaction and improving compliance with schedules require attention due to their low valuation. It was established that the project management effectiveness depends on the understanding of the project environment and the adaptation of the stakeholders to solve the problems. The contribution of the present study is to expand the existing theory in the areas of organizational culture and project management. Future research can determine cultural variables in a sample of organizations of the pharmaceutical sector, that allows to characterize the project context in this industry. Project offices and human resources areas can use the proposed tool and diagnose cultural aspects which require improvement to optimize the results of projects in their organizations.
For decades researchers have discussed what defines a successful project. Although the evaluation of project performance is important, it is also essential to know what are the necessary conditions for the development of successful projects in a company. In this sense, the objective of this research is to analyze the associations between the degree of success obtained in the Foz do Iguaçu hotel projects, and the levels of existence of Critical Success Factors for Project Management (CSFPM). Data collected through a survey with a probabilistic sample of 51 projects revealed significant correlations between the degree of success of the projects and the level of existence of the CSFPM in the hotels surveyed, with special emphasis on the "Capacity and availability of HR" and "Using Lessons Learned "and" Conduct Formal Presentations of the PMO "as the strongest and moderate correlations respectively.
The present paper tries to construct a scenario to report the functions of Production Planning and Control in the Strategic Paradigm of Manufacturing Management Industry 4.0 (I-4.0). There is not yet a literature describing these functions, as seen in the used methodology. Was made a study of the (01) proposal, which approached the alignment of Production Planning and Control with Strategic Manufacturing Management Paradigms. In this way, the study configured drivers, capacitators, principles and development objectives manufacturing performance objectives for PEGEM Industry 4.0 in the same theoric scenario proposed by (01). Concluding that objective of this research was achieved of the satisfactory way, showing like a, so that it can be affirmed that there is a specific functional structure of Production Planning and Control in PEGEM Industry 4.0. The next step will be to establish what these functions are and what their functional structure is.
The Delphi method involves the application of multiple rounds of questionnaires to obtain expert groups' opinions for long-term scientific forecasting and analysis. The use of this technique allows convergent and divergent opinions of the participants on a complex problem through several rounds of questionnaires and feedbacks between them, being considered a valid tool to support the area of project management in problem solving. The purpose of this article is to analyze how the Delphi method has been used in project management studies, besides presenting its history, concept, application and possible variations of methodological application. Therefore, a qualitative study approach was chosen from the development of a systematic review of the literature, making use of publications available in the ISI Web of Science and Scopus databases. The sample used consisted of 16 articles that deal with the use of the Delphi method in project management studies. We sought to analyze the characteristics of these surveys to answer the proposed research question. Although the use of protocols for the application of the method has been suggested, few articles followed the recommendation. It is expected that the effective understanding of the method guides the use in scientific research in the area of project management.
IT project management is changing and incorporating agile methodologies to make system deliveries faster, and make development teams more flexible and self-manageable, allowing their tasks to be defined and discussed before they are executed. This work aims to present the criteria for task sequencing through an algorithm that helps the development team in the definitions of activities and prioritization in the application of the agile Scrum methodology. The research has a qualitative nature and used the methodology of Design Science Research with data collection from semi-structured interviews. The result was a list of requirements and an algorithm for the choice and prioritization of activities and a conceptual prototype. The contributions to practice are in using the algorithm and prototype to help IT project managers improve the choice of activities for the Sprints. The theoretical contribution is in the contribution of alternative ways of choosing the activities that are absent in the Scrum guide.
The project management practices of PMI®, an institute that is a world reference in the subject, can be found in the PMBOK® Guide, the standard knowledge source in Brazil. This dissemination, for some researchers, would be inadequate because it is a normative reference that would disregard the peculiarities of each organization, such as the approach and resolution of interpersonal conflicts according to formal techniques such as facilitation and negotiation, among others. This stimulated an analysis of the guide in this regard, seeking implications of this approach on the professional training of the Brazilian project manager, which was verified by the level of formal education and learning in conflict management. This is a quanti-qualitative research, whose subjects are 112 managers of Brazilian projects born at senior level. The data collection was done through a questionnaire with closed and open questions. For the analysis of the content of the guide we opted for an inflection in the technique of Content Analysis. The results show that the content of conflict management is inadequate due to the complexity of the subject, which could lead to disinterest in formal education and conflict management learning by these professionals, as indicated by the unsatisfactory level found in these issues.
The development of new products is an essential activity for the survival and competitiveness of companies. This process involves different stages, from the identification of consumers needs to the launch, follow-up and recall of the product in the market. At food producing industries, Product Development Process Management has an important role, due to the competitive environment in which they operate. However, in these companies’ different levels of the process systematization are perceived. In this sense, Maturity Level provides guidelines to observe which best practices are institutionalized and become effective in the organization. Selected literature recognizes five maturity levels: Basic, Intermediate, Measurable, Controlled and Continuous Improvement. This paper presents a diagnosis of the maturity level of Product Development Process Management on food companies Santa Fe (Argentina). Eleven companies belonging to three sectors of economic activity, selected according to their importance for the region (dairy products, inputs and meat) are selected. A descriptive study is carried out through the application of a semi-structured questionnaire. Among the main conclusions, it is observed that companies interviewed have Basic and Intermediate Maturity Levels. Particularly, there are remarkable differences in relation to the company size (to a larger size, larger degree of PDP process systematization and higher maturity level).
Due to the world scenario of continuous transformations and high competitiveness, in which business models become increasingly dynamic and innovative; there is a constant need for companies and entrepreneurs to adopt an internationalization strategy as a prerequisite for expansion and survival of companies. In order to overcome the many challenges of internationalization, a project management approach could be an alternative to address the internationalization demands for incubated companies, optimizing their international growth strategy. The present article endeavours to support the utilization of the visual project management technique Life Cycle Canvas (Veras, 2016) to promote the internationalization process of incubated companies, through the development of a methodology that prioritize the choice of key areas for project management based on the most relevant constructs found in the business literature on internationalization strategies and barriers, business incubators and international competitiveness. The research was bibliographical and documental based on a content analysis approach (Bardin, 2011; Saunders et al, 2016), examining the constructs behind the internationalization of incubated companies and how they could be adapted as a project management process following the PMBOK and PRINCE 2 methodology in a replicable and systematic manner. As a result of the work, the four internationalization constructs previously analysed by Costa et al (2019) – Strategic Management of Internationalization; Business Incubators Management; Internal and Operational/Managerial Barriers; and External Barriers – were adapted as a prioritization tool utilizing the GUT Matrix, thus creating an instrument to optimize the LCC usage in incubated companies and to facilitate the internationalization process from as a project management approach.
A quantidade de dados gerados em uma sociedade tecnicista pode exercer um efeito poderoso da vida pessoas, e muitas vezes isso ocorre de forma discreta. A Health 4.0, um transbordamento da Industria 4.0, fazer uso desses dados para efetuar avancos na saude e bem-estar das pessoas, como o uso de informacoes medicas coletadas diariamente para melhorar os processos hospitalares. A pesquisa utilizou da metodologia de estudo de caso unico para a construcao de uma solucao computacional. O resultado e um totem que apresenta a especialidade mais adequada para um paciente ao chegar em um hospital, baseado na indicacao de sua enfermidade, seu historico medico e nas especialidades disponiveis para auxiliar no processo de triagem do hospital. A contribuicao para a pratica e a apresentacao de um modelo que podera servir para os gestores que necessitam de solucoes similares ao contexto estabelecido. A contribuicao teorica e a de demonstrar outras aplicacoes para os conceitos da Health 4.0.
